OK NWMO folks in particular what are your thoughts on this TITANIC matchup?
My only concern vis-a-vis these very special Pirates is their D is pretty much untested. Guaranteed they have not seen a QB near the caliber of Pius JR Hudson Bailey (last year's Fontana winner).Platte County brings the Reformation down on the Catholics.
AGAIN not sure what the heck happened but both Kearney and Platte County would have benefited massively playing each other this year but nothing we can do about that. I keep going back to that Pius victory over St. James Academy and really believe that was a major turning point for this program.I think initial advantage PC, worried about them not having played a meaningful game in a while( think back to PC vs GV district championship game last year).
I'm thinking pius by 4 right now

If you are right Pius would host the Webb-Carthage winner. Where, oh where, will they put everyone? I know it won't happen but I'd consider talking to NKC about having that one there..................I think initial advantage PC, worried about them not having played a meaningful game in a while( think back to PC vs GV district championship game last year).

Weather will absolutely not be a factor. As nice as it gets for November. You just never know. This is THE chess match of the year to date.I think they'll just outscore Pius. I don't think the defenses in this game are going to be much of a factor. Now watch it be a 14-13 defensive struggle.
Kearney will be all over Savannah especially that D vs. the Savages O so you should come on over to PC................A calpreps tossup.
playoffs (neutral field)
[2024] St. Pius X (Kansas City, MO) 35 (53%), [2024] Platte County (Platte City, MO) 34 (47%)
No visitor stands there. I hate that.Kearney will be all over Savannah especially that D vs. the Savages O so you should come on over to PC................
Yep same as Pius. I also abhor them having the visiting team going right through the crowd. Haven't been to a PC home game yet maybe that changed this year................No visitor stands there. I hate that.
I don't think so, neither of the D8 teams are in the same level as PC or PiusThink no matter who wins this one, the quarterfinal game vs the winner of Carthage & Webb is going to be a doozy.
I will be there, very early too as the stands will be packed, I'm not sure pius meets seating requirements but that won't matter as it is a private school and they get a pass by mshsaa lmaoIf you are right Pius would host the Webb-Carthage winner. Where, oh where, will they put everyone? I know it won't happen but I'd consider talking to NKC about having that one there..................
Could see it either way. Carthage and Webb both like to control the clock on offense. Haven’t seen PC or Pius play but both have obviously had a good years. It will be tough for either Carthage or Webb to make the trip up to the KC area for a late November game. One of the coldest games I’ve been at was Carthage at Staley in 2017, the wind out of the north that day was absolutely brutal.I don't think so, neither of the D8 teams are in the same level as PC or Pius

that's actually where i think the mismatch comes into play the most. Webb struggled with GV, you take away the drive killing false starts and the huge mistake by the officiating crew that stole all the momentum and gave WC a first down near the redzone that turned into a touchdown and that game probably has another ending. GV was a one-dimensional run only offense and that is what Webb and Carthage see down in SWMO is a healthy dose of Run. They have not seen the passing games to the level they will verse either of the D8 teams.Could see it either way. Carthage and Webb both like to control the clock on offense. Since Webb would have only had one home game (PC and Pius would both have 2 home games)Could see it either way. Carthage and Webb both like to control the clock on offense. Both JR QBs look college ready today frankly.that's actually where i think the mismatch comes into play the most. If Platte County wins yes. Pius no. Bottom side of bracket hosts if neither top seed advances.Since Webb would have only had one home game (PC and Pius would both have 2 home games)
Would the qtr final not be at Webb??
Yes the team who has hosted fewest games through districts will be the host as that is the 1st tie breakerSince Webb would have only had one home game (PC and Pius would both have 2 home games)
Would the qtr final not be at Webb??
I had to go make sure I was correct but 1st tie breaker is least amount of games hosted. If Platte County wins yes. Pius no. Bottom side of bracket hosts if neither top seed advances.
I was there yes those visitor stands can be very brutal as was this game but be assured Staley will never field a team like that again.Could see it either way. Carthage and Webb both like to control the clock on offense. Haven’t seen PC or Pius play but both have obviously had a good years. True, didn’t think about that. Didn’t know Pius hosted the Fort game last week.Since Webb would have only had one home game (PC and Pius would both have 2 home games)
Would the qtr final not be at Webb??
That team was an absolute buzz saw, easily one of the best teams I’ve seen from out of my area.I was there yes those visitor stands can be very brutal as was this game but be assured Staley will never field a team like that again.
That could send Pius down south indeed because of hosting last week. Were this to happen would also be a real fun experience for those Pius folks.................Yes the team who has hosted fewest games through districts will be the host as that is the 1st tie breaker
They seemed, though, to leave a lot of it on that field. I went to the title game in CoMo the Falcons were very flat that first half but pulled it out at the last second. To this day not sure I've ever yelled louder than that play. That team was an absolute buzz saw, easily one of the best teams I’ve seen from out of my area.
On that Webb-Carthage D7 note anyone out there who "knows" how that will turn out I'm all eyes and ears...............
Any game at Webb is fun right? That could send Pius down south indeed because of hosting last week. Were this to happen would also be a real fun experience for those Pius folks.................
ABSOLUTELY. The site of so many great games all the way back to the late 80s.Any game at Webb is fun right?
Noone knows but everyone has guesses. Alot seem to think Carthage held back knowing they had 1 seed locked up and used a vanilla playbook. On that Webb-Carthage D7 note anyone out there who "knows" how that will turn out I'm all eyes and ears...............
Visitor seating is sketchy. I recommend the visitors just take over the home stands and throw a hissy fit if they try to move youAny game at Webb is fun right?
It is the biggest rivalry in SWMO. Turn the page back just three years and look how the regular season game was vs. the playoff one.Noone knows but everyone has guesses. Alot seem to think Carthage held back knowing they had 1 seed locked up and used a vanilla playbook.
Some think Webb is coming on strong.
My thoughts are if the team from Friday night was coming on strong they better get ready for equipment turn in, they not built for this time of year.
It is a lot better than it was back in, say, 2002-3 and far better than my first visit in 1989.Visitor seating is sketchy. I recommend the visitors just take over the home stands and throw a hissy fit if they try to move you
I was never trying to cut GV down just called Week 6 as I saw it. A down year it happens.................Noone knows but everyone has guesses. Alot seem to think Carthage held back knowing they had 1 seed locked up and used a vanilla playbook.

That's exactly why I have the conversations with you and don't call you a clown or worse. I will call every game as I see it. If GV is up or down I will tell you and it is what it is. However their are others on here who can't seem to utter the words that another team just might be better than theirs and get flat disrespectful when others say it and I choose to just call them clowns and move on.I was never trying to cut GV down just called Week 6 as I saw it. That being said I knew we had a QB problem since summer and I knew we were vulnerable to deep passes but I'm not going to blast that on here and give away the keys to the war chest lol.
