John Price has resigned as St. Joseph Christian basketball coach and Athletic Director. No additional information available.
The St. Joseph Christian Website lists Erin Patrick (who is the girls coach) as the boys coach also. I have not heard any formal announcement, so I am not sure if he is just interim coach or not.I can confirm that Malik Tucker has transferred. No word on who the coach will be yet.
Just got official word that Erin Patrick has officially been named the Boys coach (in addition to girls). Quincy James (who is from Alabama) will be the assistant coach.
Tea leaves and what-not...but my best guess. Price was brought in by the supt, who left really late (August if memory serves) for a supt job in Washington state. The supt and Price were college buddies. Price had a monster job at Faith Academy in AL. Largest class in AL and won a title or two and was an annual power there. Again, all word of mouth stuff, but evidently the supt made a lot of promises. Couldn't deliver. Supt left and I'm sure Price jumped at the first opportunity to leave.Still no word as to the cause of all this I guess?
Although I do agree with you, privacy is such a big issue these days. Maybe that’s why all are left to speculate. What concerns me so much is the lack of disclosure, even to stakeholders like GRC. Instead of the story being out and out, now everyone is left to speculate. Not good. Unfortunate for everyone involved.
right, very true.Although I do agree with you, privacy is such a big issue these days. Maybe that’s why all are left to speculate.
Wow! Are you describing SJCS or the WH? Lol.You don’t know me:
Totally agree. The story the board gave was vaugue, secretive and ominous and I was told a gag order was put on Price in order for him to get his severance pay. He was there one day and when I say gone the next, he was GONE. The reason for the secrecy is obvious because it would sound ludicrous for them to state “we didn’t like the prosperity and stability the former superintendent brought to SJCS and so we scrapped the whole thing and will go back to the old way of doing things.” The former superintendent came to SJCS at a time where enrollment was at its lowest point in years, new enrollment was not taking place (less than 250 students when he took the job), financially they had a $300k deficit and they had no plan or direction in how to stabilize the ship. Within 3 years of taking over the school had erased the deficit, put money in the bank, enrollment boomed by 100 students and the athletic and fine arts programs went from invisible to excellence. The problem was that once the ship was stabilized the power brokers wanted to put their hands back in the cookie jar. Tindol wanted to continue to build and grow but the old timers wanted to stay the same and tread water. Change was too much work and required too much effort and discomfort. The more the superintendent pushed for change the more pushback he received until it came to a head. The board mandated he follow the policies to the “T” and he did. The problem was that the board didn’t follow their own policies and when Tindol called them out for the double standard the crap hit the fan. They even revised the policies to allow for them to not follow their original policies. Board members that (by policy) were supposed to rotate off the board were given free passes to remain. The one specific board member who is now employed by SJCS being the main one. When Tindol questioned the double standard he was accused of insubordination. The bottom line is that the entire school is a poster child for dysfunction and a “good ole boy” network of former parents who want to create an environment to appease a very specific clientele. (Mostly wealthy, white, super spiritual people). The former superintendent wanted diversity, people who may not be wealthy and may not have been in the “super spiritual” category and that wasn’t going to be tolerated. When he hired a black woman as as administrator there were board members that were privately infuriated. One prominent board member was brash enough to refer to her as a “house maid”. She will certainly be the next one to be ousted as she is one of the final holdovers from the former superintendents regime. The takeover is almost complete. Of course the window dressing the school propagates is squeaky clean, Uber spiritual and self righteous. The reality and the underbelly is completely different.
Unfortunately, that’s the way it usually goes. The bad apples do their thing while the others stand and watch. There are certainly great people there. No question. A select few people pulling the strings are the ones who have orchestrated the recent events
