Bolivar(25-4), thoughts on the LIberators???

I saw them for the first time tonight when they beat a very athletic Ray-South team.

They aren't big...6'5" soph Brandon Emmert is their only big man but he does a very nice job of playing in the post for a soph. Had 20+ tonight vs Childs and Gibbs of South. Bolivar made a concerted effort to feed the ball into the post.

Other than Emmert it's basically 4 guards who play well together and can handle and shoot the ball. This is the only time I've seen them this season so I'm sure someone who has seen them a lot can add more. Just my impressions from tonight.

Well they beat a more talented (athletically) team in Raytown South by dictating the tempo of the game. They have a solid post player and some decent 3 point shooters. They are young the roster only showed 1 senior.

Believe it or not, two of their losses were in the first week of the season in the Republic Invitational Tournament. Rolla was also in the tournament. Bolivar won the seventh place game. Rolla won the entire tournament, including a semifinal win over Har-Ber High out of Springdale, AR and a win in the championship game over Ozark. Ozark lost to Kickapoo last Friday night in the Class 5, District 12 title game by one in OT. Rolla's only two losses this year were to Waynesville. The Bulldogs were co-champs in the Ozark Conference with Kickapoo. However, they beat Kickapoo head-to-head. Waynesville was eliminated from making it a tri-champ scenario when they lost to Hillcrest in the last conference game.

I've not seen either team since the first week of the season, but I still think that Rolla is the team to beat in Class 4. Their guard play is amazing. They have a good inside game, too, but their guards are fun to watch. Relentless defense.

All I know is that my Falcons had them down 41-31 with a few minutes left to play and we didn't score another point, while the Liberators ripped off 13 straight to win 44-41.
