What are the biggest changes for the new year?

Blair Oaks, defending champs, moved from Class 2 to Class 3.

Eureka moves to Class 5.

Raytown and Ruskin both move down to Class 4.

What are others?
thoughts?

The changes demonstrate (by leaving Class 5 a dumping Class and putting only 36 teams in it, that have a tiny size differential) they they are not interested in improving competition in classes 1-4. Especially 4, with a massive size differential from top to botton.

Going to be quite the culture shock from playing tiny 8 man teams last year to probably playing in the Hound Pound week 10
It is the strangest co-op I've ever heard of. The opener hosting Putnam County may be the hardest 11-man game to figure this week. That plus how the new 8-man schools fare.

Cry me a river.

That's the kind of shallow lazy thinking that keeps the categories from being better, more competitive, and interesting. And as long as your school is in the top quartile in sze within a class, you will no incentive in altering it. I don't have to cry, my school is top quartile. So no whining from me.

When I assume control of MSHSAA there will be 32 class 6 teams, 48 class 5 teams, 64 in class 2,3,4 and the rest in class 1. And I would still have the multiplier for private schools...

Why not just make all classes even

Because then you would have 5, 6, or 7 team districts and bye weeks in district play. Ask anyone whose team has been in the catch-all class and you will understand.
So itd be like basketball having some districts with 7 teams and others with 9

Fill top 5 classes with 64 and class 1 is catch all

That's what we used to have but with 5 classes. Putting larger travel costs on the smaller schools was deemed to be unfair. Additionally, a lot of Class 5 teams are in KC and St. Louis.

The change was made for a good reason. And there have been zero good arguments made for why it should change again.

Class 1 would have 4 teams.

You literally have put zero thought into the consequences of your suggestions and yet you think the coaches/ADs and MSHSAA are the ones making bad decisions.
Good point. Wont be long until there wont be enough schools for 5 classes of 64
