Rockhurst at Bishop Miege:

Consensus is that Bishop Miege is superior...okay. Believe it when I see it. Rock by 10.

Park Hill at Fort Osage

Park Hill will lay these guys out. Hey Fort, thinking you are good and being good are two different things.

Lawson at Lathrop

Holy cr@p. I am actually thinking about going to this...Lathrop averaging 60.2 points per game. Lawson averaging 42.8 points per game. What do you bet this is 21-14 Lathrop?

Odessa at Excelsior Springs
The battle of 5-0s. Odessa by 14. Too much Coach Thomas for Excelsior. You remember Coach Thomas Webbies? Reminder: Kearney 35 Webb 21 at WC in 2002 and Kearney 43 Webb 0 at WC in 2003. He coached them.

Platte County at Smithville
Platte County by 10

Liberty North at Staley

Haha Just kidding. This will be a blowout. Staley by 35.

Miege wins a close one
Park Hill by 2 scores
Lathrop in a close one, (unless Holt does Holt stuff and refuses to punt on 4th and 8, etc) He won't be able to get a 2point conversion when he's up 60 or onsides kick when he's up 35 this week.
Odessa BIG
Smithville in a REAL close one
Staley by 10(ish)

Miege vs Rock will be very interesting. Looks like Miege is loaded with D1 kids I'm just not sure how good their competition has been.

Best two teams they have played: Mill Valley (Shawnee, KS) Blue Valley North. Neither as good as Liberty, Mo, but a little better than Ray Pec.

how did he end up in Odessa? where did he go after Kearney?

It has not been that good thus far. Rock will present a physicality/size challenge on the lines they have yet to face. I look for this one to be one of a number of dandies this week.

Mill Valley is pretty ordinary this year. BV North has a great QB but not much else.

The Falcons could (why I put this in pick em this week) be a bit beaten up and could come out of the gate slow after that thriller last Friday. Again not sure I will see a better HSFB game this fall!

You have no clue on Miege dude. They are better then both of those 2 schools by a lot. Your stats don’t show anything about Miege. I think they beat Rock, if not they will push them further than anyone so far this year.

What are the chances Lawson plays vanilla since there's a high likelyhood they meet again with much more on the line?
I'm guessing a zero chance. They will do everything they can to win this game. And they're going to have to play a hell of a game to have a chance.

I would think you want homefield in district 8.
Fair point. However, there is value in holding something back in the game plan, or set a different tendency. Seen it done many times.

Uh, Lawson always has a chance. Fine program. But, I'm biased since Coach Dunn and I went to school together.

No disrespect intended toward Coach Dunn. I am a big fan as well. His record and consistency speaks for itself. I just think Lathrop has a much better team this time around.

I played in the KCI at West Platte had a lot of experience with both school. I remember Lathrop being really bad for a few seasons so it’s nice to see some success up there. I’m taking Lathrop Friday night. I think it will be a great game. Coach Dunn always has his boys ready to play and I know Coach Holt will as well. Winner takes the KCI and sets themselves up for the 1 seed in Class 2 District 8. Exciting matchup in a great conference

On paper would agree BUT don't forget East Buchanan is unbeaten and ranked #2 in Class 1 as well.

I know their schedule isn't very good. That can make you look really good sometimes. Out of the top 25 teams in the Metro, their schedule is 11th.

Dion Clisso from Prepskc.com was on 810 this morning talking about the Rock vs Miege game.

Apparently Miege doesn't have seating on the visitor sideline and there is a row of houses on that side along the field. He said there is a deck on one of the homes that is a great spot to watch the game. That deck is auctioned off as a fund raiser for one game per year. Clisso said he had heard that it went for $15k for this game. He couldn't confirm that.

Man, rich folks really struggle with ways to spend their money sometimes.

I was at the 2011 game, and still call it the best high school game I ever saw. Quadruple OT 76-70 Staley who went on to roll the next week for their first state championship. Several Div I players in the game including at least one NFL, one NBA, and yet TBD MLB player on the losing side.

Given the defenses of those two teams, was expecting a game more like last week's, but a wild shootout broke out.

The C5 ship last year is the game I wish I had personally witnessed.

Uhhhh, if Miege is going to "push them further than anyone so far this year" then they better beat them since Rockhurst already lost a game to Rock Bridge.
That said, I wish I were going to that one tonight. Should be a dandy.

Miege has the talent. That’s for certain.

I’m not sure they’ve seen as big and strong of lines as Rockhurst has. That’s the big difference between who they’ve played and Rockhurst. I mean, Blue Valley North? That team is awful.

There's some people down in Webb that need $15K for a paint job on their house.
