I predict that someone, besides Lamar, will be Conference champions this year.

I think the West division is loaded. Lamar is the clear favorite, Cassville was a roller coaster last year, Seneca was not very good towards the end of the year. Both have talent coming back and could challenge Lamar. Nevada is a dark horse I think they could surprise some people.

Cassville
East Newton
Lamar
McDonald County
Monett
Nevada
Seneca

The east is a toss up and anybody could win it. I Think going in MV, Aurora, and Reeds should be the favorites.

Aurora
Hollister
Logan-Rogersville
Marshfield
Mt. Vernon
Reeds Spring
Springfield Catholic

East Newton is second when it comes to alphabetical order. Not in the order Bullit predicts they'll finish.

My East Predictions
1-Catholic
2-Reeds Spring
3-Aurora
4-Mt. Vernon
5-Logan-Rogersville
6-Marshfield
7-Hollister

My West Predictions
1-Lamar
2-Seneca
3-Cassville
4-Nevada
5-McDonald Co
6-Monett
7-East Newton

Hey Papa do you know what Catholic has coming back?

Seems to me an original Big 8 team in Mt Vernon or Aurora might make a run at the East top spot? Did Mt Vernon graduate most of last years state runner up team? I watched them twice last year. The first time they played and lost to Seneca at home then the State Title game. I don't remember now how many seniors were out there?

Bullit, I don't know much about the COC teams, I just thought I would get a conversation started. I would like to see an old Big 8 school, (Aurora) win the East Division. My niece teaches in Aurora.
After some of the late hits and extracurricular activities the Mountaineers engaged in in our game last year, I don't care if they win a game. It definetly fired our team up to give them a butt kicking.

I think MV lost alot, still have some kids coming back and numbers seem to be up. Monett opens against them this year so get a first hand look at them early.

Mac will surprise people on that side...got some good linemen coming back and a good coach in year 2...they wont beat Lamar but I can see them top 2/3 in that division, seneca will be tough again, a lot returning....other side will MV, RS, and Catholic. I still think catholic is over rated. Riley good player but nothing to what snooz-leader has made him out to be...

There are definitely no easy wins in the Big 8 anymore... MV lost alot of speed to graduation, but have the Class 3 Defensive player of the year back at LB.
Seneca returns QB who is in his 3rd year of running the Webb City veer, so expecting him to be very improved. FB/Nose gaurd Treigh Wilson is fun to watch, he is one of the biggest impact players they have on both sides of the ball. They did lose some key offensive and defensive lineman, and defense is the biggest question mark in my opinion.
I think Lamar is still by far the best in the Big 8, i do think the margin between them and a couple other teams has been getting a little smaller over the last couple years.

Im surprised by your East pick Bulit

Looks like more of the same for the Big 8/14. Lamar will run through the west and barely break a sweat. The East should be competitive, but it wont be pretty. Guessing, I would say Reeds or MV have the best opportunity.

MT Vernon is the classiest team in the area, surely they wouldn't participate in any extra curricular activity.

That would be a pleasant surprise if it is true. Mt. Vernon has traditionally been the dirtiest team in the conference and holds the reign for the least classy sportsmanship witnessed in a HS football game for...well, basically the entire time I have watched, which is over 30 years.
