Big 8 expanding to 14 team per news story

"Big 8 and 6 New Teams All-Conference First Team" just doesn't fit on a letter jacket patch, so they decided to keep the current name.

That's why I have never liked the "big ---" conference names. The geographic names make more sense to me and are somewhat less prone to become incorrect. Though the coc has always bugged me because it's not really central to anything and it's debatable if CJ, WC, Carthage are even in the ozarks at all. Maybe is was somewhat more central before the block of schools along the state line were added.

Maybe the big 8 will come up with a goofy logo like the big 10/11/16?

Back in the old days it was the Southwest conference. Then it was changed to the Big insert whatever the number of conference members was. Then when we split it became the big 8 and big 6. Then when Memorial and Parkwood combined the Big 6 just decided to use the old Southwest conference name instead of the big 5.

The reason why they are keeping the big 8 is because it has so much respect across the state.

Good to see Nevada returning to it's original league. Been rough on them for a few years after the Big 6/Southwest broke up.

They just make the cut on being in the "Ozarks"
