Best Regular Season Running Backs 2017???

Latroy Harper, Penney(Hamilton)

115 carries for 1,692 yds and 26 TDs

12 receptions for 302 yds and 5 TDs

38 of 61 passing for 604 yds and 9 TDs to 2 INTs

(and Penney has used 3 different QBs this year, so in my mind, I qualify Harper as a RB or an APB)

The Merida kid from Eldon has had a heck of a year.

144 carries
1262 yards
8.8 yards per carry
18 TD's
no fumbles lost.

Not to mention he is a great corner as well.... And kick returner..... And punt returner.... Lol.

Great athlete. Great kid.

Maxpreps doesn't have the complete stats on this guy, but they have his stats through 8 games

Andrew Graves, Jefferson(Festus)

106 carries for 1,374 yds and 24 TDs

9 receptions for 183 yds and 1 TD

Saw them play early in the season. Kids a hell of an athlete.

Sucks that he's on a team that doesn't give his stats much credibility though due to the powder puff schedule they play with the exception of Valle

I'd take Philip Brooks of LS West. He has 165 carries for 1358 yards at 8.2 yards per carry plus 18 catches for 465 yeards in arguably the best conference in the state.

According to MaxPreps Cole Mueller of Holt HS in Wentzville is 2nd in the nation in rush yards with 2337 on 249 carries. 9.4 yards per carry and 32 TDs.

Didn’t see that. Good to know though. I think when the season is said and done, Lidgard will end up with more rushing yds. I could be wrong, but it looks like Holt is only going to have one game left whereas West Plains should have at least 2. Maybe 3. The kid from Holt will have him on yds per game of it works out that way though.

Brayden Lidgard, West Plains

SOPHOMORE

5'9 160 lbs(I think he may actually be smaller)

246 carries for 2,155 yards and 33 TDs
8.8 yards per carry

30 receptions for 307 yds and 3 TDs

I remember West Plains having some hot shot running back a few years ago. Lots of yards. Lots of hype. Went to Webb City and got shut down! A West Plains RB with big stats is like a Glendale QB with big stats. Overrated.

Glendale's QB is not overrated, guarantee the kid gets a football scholarship...

Nathaniel Peat, Rockbridge RB is only a junior and already has multiple D1 offers, explosive back who can do it all

Unless there’s any other legit challengers, I believe we have a winner!

(SOPHOMORE!...)
We will see what this kid does against CJ. I am not sure the Ozark Conference is as tough defensively. But I am sure the kid is good but doubt he is better than Henderson from WC. Henderson is the best RB in SW MO.

Harper is listed as a WR on the roster. :)

I think you're right. West Plains has been putting out RBs with huge numbers a few years in a row now. They obviously have a system that trains up that type of player. 2k rushing yards in a season is nuts. I think Webb would have more players in that range if we didn't have 3 guys who could run the ball on every play. Lol

Oh wow. You're so right. Not being able to run all over Webb City automatically makes you overrated.

Or..... maybe it's just the fact the Webb City consistently has one of the best defenses in the state if not the best? I would say that is more the theme to take away from your statement rather than your outlandish opinion based off of one game rather than many.

I think some of you have forgotten that this thread is about “regular season“ running backs

If he does, he won't do much as small as he is throwing sidearm like he does. D-line at the next level will swat those down. He needs a lot of help with his delivery.
