Marceline is ranked in that top 5 in 1A
Brookfield is ranked in the top 5 in 2A
This should be a very good game.
Thoughts?

For twenty years a buddy and I use to take in a lot of high school football games within a one hour driving radius of central MO. Take in a good game (hopefully), sample the local cuisine and then pile in the car and listen to scoreboard shows on Carrollton and Moberly radio stations all the way home. Many, many years we heard the results of the Bell game and the interview with the coaches and every year he would say, "I would like to see that game just once before I die."

It was somewhat outside our normal one hour limit but one year under a ruse that we were going to another game and then a further ruse that I had to pick up something from my cousin beyond the game location, it was thirty minutes to kickoff and he was visibly nervous that we could not backtrack to our feigned location in time for the kickoff. About that time he sees a highway sign that says Brookfield 13 miles. His immediate response was, "We may as well go to the Bell game since we are this close.", followed by, "That's where we were going all the time, wasn't it?"

To make a long story longer, it was SRO and there was electricity in the air and it remained that way for the entire game. It came down to the closing seconds and honestly I have seldom seen two teams play so hard for so long. The experience was one I will never forget and will always treasure.

My buddy and I observed one more season following that year, both content that we had attended a Bell game and not knowing that he would succumb to as yet undiagnosed cancer before the second post Bell game season kicked off. I don't think I had any premonitions but was glad that I got to surprise him so that he could experience that small town atmosphere accompanying the Bell game JUST ONCE before he passed.

What a great story. Thanks for sharing.
