Already successful under Meinders on the men's side, they are loading up on the women's side also. Just got a commitment from Karlee Holland, who had at least one D1 offer and surely could have played D2. That's on top of the Maxwell big who transferred from Evangel, Emma Compton, Hambelton from Dora who just committed in the last week or two, and several other players, mostly guards. Doing a quick head count, they have something like 8 or 9 freshman coming in this next season. Not too sure some of them will end up playing much with all of these signings ongoing, but still. They are also about to join the NAIA, I expect them to compete from the get go.

Whatever they are doing over there under Meinders and the new women's coach Dakota Webb, it's paying off!

Webb has good connections and a developed reputation of being a basketball guy in the area. Played at Dadeville about 10-12 years ago. He also ran team camps and individual skill development on his own for awhile and still does it some. He worked with some players at the likes of Republic (I think Smith) and other Springfield area schools. Great guy and great coach.

Was hoping Holland would stay another year at 3R. She only got play a few games at the end of the season her first year here but that included making the Final 4 and had another trip to the tourney this year so I guess she figures it's time to move on. I wish her good luck! Coach Wiggs has some big holes to fill for next season with all the 3rd year kids moving on too. He has some nice players returning and I'm betting he has some good ones coming in too.

My question with players going to a school like BBC is what kind of a degree do they Get? Do they have secular degrees?

Yes they do. I have worked with teachers that received their teaching degrees from there. I think they have business degrees, psychology, and many more. Not just a ministry school.

Based on their website looks like the secular degrees are teaching or business management. So very limited but teaching degrees would probably appeal to many on the womens team

What type of scholarships can bbc offer? I’m pretty sure they can’t offer full rides.

The campus is pretty much a dump and not in a good area, but the allure of playing ball close to home has to be the main draw. There’s a lot of talent in SWMO and not enough schools to spread the talent out more especially with COFO no longer being NAIA

So C of O drops down and BBC goes up to the NAIA? I don't understand what C of O is doing but their leadership is weird.

C of O is going back to the NAIA soon.
The basketball facility at BBC isn't a dump.
BBC has 3 level of athletic scholarship with the highest being around $7500. Not sure on their tuition.
Meinders being in the AD spot has loosened the "strictness" of BBC. I have heard they are less strict than Evangel now which would attract more students. You can also live off campus year 1 which is a change.

No, the basketball facility is fine, way better than Evangel's is for example. Just needs a bit of updating, mainly the seating. And they need larger bathrooms. The ones they have in there now are about the size of a walk in closet.

Did not know C of O was going back to NAIA, wonder why the change of heart?

Definitely going to be a place to keep an eye on next year. They have got a ton of local kids. Not sure there is going to be enough basketballs to go around for everyone.

BBCs gym is fine. The seating is way outdated and you never know when you may sit down in a broken chair, and the bathrooms are awful. If they ever get a big crowd they are going to have major issues.

The rest of the campus is a dump and not in a good part of town. But no doubt the coach there has done a good job of recruiting.

C of O wasn't so strict in the past. My wife graduated from there in the 90s and she says it wasn't strict then.

It was supposed to be, but some of the rules, at that time, were not always enforced.

C of O expects students to go by their God-designed gender for restrooms and dorms. I heard that NAIA finds that "offensive". I do know C of O has a lawsuit against Biden's transgender policies. It's more than just about sports there.

Honestly Evangel should have taken advantage of C of O trying to basically tank their athletics. Not just with women's basketball either. There's definitely a talent pool that can be very competitive year in and year out at the NAIA level from the SWMO and surrounding area.

I don't think the issue of what bathrooms transgenders use is a problem at C of O. There has to be actual transgenders there :D

But I get that they have made a political/moral stance that pretty much no other college would choose to make, they just have to accept that there will be ramifications for taking the stances they have taken.

The reason for C of O’s decline in women’s basketball is due to President Davis forcing the team out of NAIA. That turned off possible new players. Most players do not want to be limited to NCCAA. His strict COVID restrictions led to their best player transferring last year as well.

With him stepping down at the end of this academic year hopefully all the athletic teams are allowed to compete at the NAIA level again.

C of O is free to have whatever bathroom policies they want. I don't think the NAIA is going to force them to do anything. Also, I thought their issue was with the NAIA allowing other schools to kneel during the national anthem.

Webb is out as women's coach at BBC. Meinders is taking over. Wow... completely broadsided with this development.

Zero shock... Meinders will end up turning the boys side over to his son after a year or so. Don't be surprised if there's a couple transfers out even with how late it is.

The coach has a tweet that says doing people wrong will backfire

So what players are leaving for sure?
Too soon to say for sure, it'll all play out in the end. I'm sure BBC will pull out all the stops to keep as many of the players as possible but I also know Webb will land somewhere else very soon and presumably some or even most of the players will follow him.

We know where he’s trying to land. But the girls will be in trouble no matter where they go. Scholarship money is gone. Can’t wait for the whole story to get out. He got shafted.

The girls who were recruited by Webb to go there also got shafted in this deal, of course. A few were set to move onto campus in the coming weeks and now it's all up in the air.

Wait…wut? Meinders is going to coach men and women at BBC??? I feel like I’m missing something.
