Article on Courtney Pigram signing at TRCC

WOW!!! I saw Pigram play at the Tournament of Champions this year. What an addition to the Raider program. If Johnson is as good as he sounds the Raiders are rock solid offensively on the perimeter. There is cause for much excitement in Raiderland. Go Raiders!!

I've seen him play over the last two years and this kid can play. It may take awhile for this team to Gel but I can tell you this will be one heck of a team. It will be interesting to see who they can land with that last schlorship. Anybody think this time next year the RAIDERS will add Ashton Farmer to go with this group?

Trust me guys, Pigram can play. I had the honor of watching him play three times this year, most recently at the Memphis high school all-star game. He is an exceptional combo guard who can fill it up from deep. What I gathered from a brief conversation was that he is a disciplined young man with a great attitude and personality. He played for a veteran coach and should have no problem adapting to the system at Three Rivers. The TRCC coaches should be applauded for stealing this one if he actually shows up in the RaiderNation, because the buzz in Memphis said he was definitely headed for the prep school mentioned in the article.

I would say that Ashton Farmer will be a big time D-1 signee. The only thing that hurts him, is that he doesn't get quite the exposure Hansborough gets. He's just as good though.

well, nmcc, we're back to disagreeing again because farmer is NOT as good as tyler. yes, he has d-1 talent, but he's yet to totally reach his full potential in my opinion. he disappears at times during games and is a bit selfish at times. i've seen them both for 3 years and i think tyler is clearly the better player.

So quick to criticize. I said just as good not better than Hansborough. I would definitely like to see Ashton guard Tyler next season in the Charleston vs. Poplar Bluff game. No one around here thinks it's very funny. Everyone knows that Ashton has talent. Farmer is alot stronger than Tyler, and I think he is a more explosive player around the rim. Tyler has alot of areas that he is stronger in though. It will be interesting to see where there futures go after high school. I know that Tyler has major D-1 schools looking at him. Publicity is everything in sports.

Broken Lizard - Courtney attended the WP sports banquet and verballed to SMSU-WP; so the Grizzlies' loss turns into the Raider's gain!

tyler got that publicity by being one of the top high school talents in the nation. if not, he wouldn't have EVERY school in the country vying for his services. i will agree with you in that i can't wait for the final charleston/pb matchup of their careers next feb.

If he is one of the top prospects in the nation, he shouldn't have a problem going straight to the NBA then. That's real funny.

well, he definitely IS one of the top prospects in the nation as ranked by every recruiting service out there. i'm no NBA scout so i can't say he shouldn't have a problem going straight to the nba. i personally think he needs to go to college first and continue to hone his skills. not all the top ranked players in high school go straight to the nba anyway. it's unreal how he's improved in the last year and if he continues to do so, i think he's a definite nba prospect. at least i certainly hope so.

If he needs exposure, maybe Ashton should....

... play AAU ball in the summer for a team like the St Louis Eagles...

Re: If he needs exposure, maybe Ashton should....

That's a great idea Marcus. By the way, why did you give yourself a Greek god name? Just curious.

Top 150 Highschool players

nmcc,

Here is the list of the top 150 "seniors to be" in the nation. Notice the #5 player in the nation is Tyler. Although I think Ashton Farmer will be a great pick up for a mid level team, he in not ranked in the top 150 players. I don't mind debating players skills, but you can't be serious when you say Ashton is as good as Tyler. He is a great player, but not at the level of Tyler.

Top 150 players in the nation

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

Raider are you kidding me this is coming from a guy saying TRCC has wasted scholarships allready this year. Next he has said we should lower our level of basketball and not take foreign players cause no US players go overseas. Finally he has says what everyone has wanted to say for a long time Ashton is better than Tyler. This guy is prophet. He is fulfilling the legacy of the Jack Arse Prophecy well :). Allthough his comments do provide great laughs.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

Settle down Poplar Bluff. I said just as good. Since Ashton is listed in the top 150 he must not be any good. Was Michael Jordan the first pick in the NBA Draft? Don't think so. Mtroy79 you're such a great philospher. If Tyler was guarding Ashton, Ashton could have his way with him. He is alot stronger than Tyler, I didn't say he was better. You Poplar Bluff guys love to argue about Tyler don't you? Anyone want to make a wager that he doesn't go to the NBA? What kind of medication are you on Mtroy79?

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

I am saying nothing bad about Farmer. Now, I believe you can get all covered you care to bet on Tyler and the NBA. You just have not seen him play enough. Place all the bets you want but be sure you can afford to lose. Tyler is the real thing, the one in a million. You can watch high school basketball all of your life and never see a Tyler Hansborough. BTW I am not from Poplar Bluff.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

I will put $100.00 up that Ashton Farmer will not sign bigger than Semo, Arkanasa State, Murray State, or SMS etc. He is a serious mid-major D1 prospect but is no way even in the same league as the 5th ranked player in the country and may I add defending state champion Tyler Hansbrough. We watched Charleston and Poplar Bluff last year with the same debate. Oh, charleston is better than bluff, Oh Farmer is as good as Hansbrough. Hansbrough outplayed Farmer, won the game and the Class 5 state title. Remember, Farmer plays basketball in Southeast MO Class 3. Tyler plays Class 5 and AAU ball against the best players in the country. Please don't take my word about any of this, ask Roy, Quin, Mike, or others. But I am proud to have a better talent scout (NMCC) from the area, maybe Semo can pick him up to do to their recruiting. He is still mad because Webb hit those free throws to beat Tipler and gang. And also, there is no way that Ashton Farmer is more explosive around the rim, you must not have seen Tyler play much. I have never in my life seen a High Schooler just grab the ball and go up that strong every single time he catches. He comes out of no where and just slams on anybody and everybody. He is the most dominant High School player I have ever seen in person. (Narrowly beating Anthony Peeler)

NMCC...question and comment for you.

I traveled 5 hours to see the Charleston / PB game last year. Tyler totally dominated that game. By the way if Biles dosen't have a great 2nd half that's a 50 point PB win. I should also say I live near Springfield and have no attachemnts to the PB program. I've seen Farmer play 4x's and have not seen him show up for any of those games. The 1st game being Charleston VS. Ash Grove in the State Semi's last year. Where he got out played and out hustled. By guys smaller and slower than him. I can tell you this, he is at best a Mid Level D-1. (Missouri Valley) Do you get out and watch any games? I watched about 50 Highschool games last year and he was about the 15th best player I saw. Farmer to Three Rivers would be the best thing that could happen to him. Then he could play at a major D-1 sometime.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

4everyRaiders3 I'll take that bet. Undoubtedly you don't know Danny Farmer, I guarantee he won't go to those schools you named. Yeah Poplar Bluff beat Charleston last year, but what happened the year before. The only reason Poplar Bluff beat NMCC is because of a Doniphan referee that was mad at the Eagles for beating Doniphan by 50 points that year. I'm sorry to tell you, but Tyler is not the best player from Missouri. Your forgetting Jamie Booker, Marcus Tillman, and Rickey Frazier. Get your stories straight, looks like maybe I've watched basketball longer than you. All I'm saying is that Ashton would man handle Tyler. Didn't say he would go to a better D-1 school than Tyler.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

well atleast NMCC provides us with something to laugh about all summer. I am not even from popular bluff. Geez and when i think you can't get any better you do your amazing, i love it if only idoits like you would open up and talk more often.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

NMCC1993 I don't know who Marcus Tillman is, but Marcus Timmons of Scott County Central was a pretty good player.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

I don't know why I typed Tillman for. Marcus Timmons was one of the best players around. He lead Scott County Central to 4 state championships in his high school career.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

I am done with this conversation. I don't know another person in the world that thinks "farmer would man hanlde Tyler Hansbrough". There is no convincing NMCC otherwise so I will drop it. And yes, the year before Charleston did beat Bluff by 1 point at Charleston but Tyler had more points and rebounds than Gant and Farmer combined. He was the man handler.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

Tyler looks like a bag of bones next to Ashton. I'm saying that Ashton is stronger than Tyler, that's all. If you had any common sense you would see that. I know that Tyler more than likely will go to Kentucky. He's no longer interested in Duke. I believe it's down to Kentucky, Kansas, and UNC. Let's just sit back and watch how this season unfolds. Tyler will be carrying Poplar Bluff on his back. He has no help next season, so we will see just what kind of basketball player Tyler is.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

You Know NMCC man simply put AMAZING. Nothing makes me happy more knowing you have dropped yet another post cause not only does it bring a smile to my face but i have to laugh and this times its hard. Come on man which is it now Ashton is only stronger than Tyler first it was as good now its done to just stronger, since you said he is stronger thats all. MAN i love it dude just keep it up for the summer months your a gold mine of comedy for me.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

Glad I could entertain you. You must have a boring life. I never said that Farmer was better than Tyler, I said just as good. That doesn't mean better. Ashton's arms are bigger than Tyler's waist. Let's see how the season unfolds and wait for the PB/Charleston game. I'm sure alot of you will be surprised this season.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

He PBHater 1993, I mean NMCC93 get over it. You hate Poplar Bluff, who cares? People on this board shouldn't even argue with you about Hansbrough. North Carolina, Duke, Florida, Kansas and on and on all want Tyler. Enough said!

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

For a 6'9" basketball player weighing 230 lbs. I think that speaks for itself. Phil don't argue with me about it then. Nobody is saying that Tyler isn't talented, but so is Ashton. You guys think the only talented athletes in Missouri are all in Poplar Bluff. Who has Poplar Bluff produced that has been a star? Tyler is just someone you think will get Poplar Bluff on the map. I have seen Tyler play, he's a good ball player, but I don't think he lives up to all the hype. I've seen alot better.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

just trying to catch up here from the long weekend. hey NMCC, none of the 3 officials in the bluff/charleston game this year were from doniphan and i know this for a fact. charleston certainly got a fair shake in the game. as a matter of fact, it wasn't even as close as 10 points and could've easily been a 30 point game if it weren't for biles in the 4th qtr. but the officials did a great job in handling a very intense and physical game.

Re: Top 150 Highschool players

I was talking about the New Madrid/Poplar Bluff game a couple of years back. Someone said I was mad about Webb hitting the free throws at the end to win it. I was just informing them that it was a Doniphan referee that called the foul, and was upset that we beat Doniphan by 50 that year.
