Sad article about the state of Mizzou basketball. Very few students go
to games with no excitement in program. It also said best Missouri players
don't even consider Mizzou anymore. I remember under Norm Stewart
how they where so good every year. Gym was sold out , great Missouri
players went to Mizzou. Then we hire those 3 horrible coaches cant remember
first guy the Duke flash, then no defense Anderson then Junior High coach Haith.
Poor Anderson a true Norm Stewart guy that inherited a horrible mess. I bet he
had no idea how bad the program had become. I really don't know if he has a chance
with no big times players having no interest in such a horrible program. Mizzou basketball
use to be my passion growing up then lost interest when they let the 3 stooges ruin
it. SAD

I wouldnt say no big time players are interested. Know of one that lives in the city of Columbia who's considered big time and his friend in the state of Oklahoma who is another big time player has Mizzou on his final list. It takes awhile to rebuild. Be patient. A number of the current freshman will turn out to be really good players for the program. On top of that, Kim Anderson WANTS to be there. I think the worse thing to do at this point is to go hire some ladder climber like in the past, or a coach thats waiting for" that other job" to open so he jump to it and leave the program in a pile when he takes off quite possibly with NCAA problems attached to his departure. Time will tell, but you have to give Kim Anderson the time to turn it around, and its going to be a few years. I believe he will do it, but you have to be patient. There are going to be alot of ups and downs for awhile.

While what you say of Coach Stewart's time at Mizzou is true in part, lets not forget he did miss out on some HUGE in state players late in his career. Which I really believe led to his "retirement". That list of players is really long. It is extremely hard in today's college hoops landscape to turn a program around the way Coach Anderson is trying to do it. It takes longer now, that way, than it ever has. He'll need four years to see if it actually works. Just not sure he'll get it.

When freshmen, and not KY level freshmen, are consistently your best players you're not going to be very good. It's about Jimmies and Joes at this level His first class has basically been a write off mainly due to not having time to actually recruit. The freshmen show some promise. The next class is going to have to be as good or better than this year's class or he may not get that 4th year.

And yes Norm has a lot of good years but we sometimes don't remember the bad ones. Not every game was sold out, far from it. And he certainly did miss some very good instate players especially from St. Louis. You have to think it's Tate's job now to get some of those guys. But none of them want to go to a bad team and really who can blame them. I think Kim has to somehow get back to respectable with lower level players like this year's freshmen before the top ones are going to seriously consider Mizzou. I was in his camp to start and still am. But if he's not above .500 by year 3 it probably isn't going to work.

Quinn Snider would be the Dukie you spoke of.

Quinn Snyder was a disaster - for sure - his punishment was being banned to the NBA! The best advertisement I know of for the fact that you should forget the boredom of hoops and CONVERT TO COLLEGE WRESTLING - Go TigerStyle wrestling!!!!!

Snyder is a really, really good basketball coach. He was far too immature when given the MU job. But he's done a great deal to repair his image since his MU days. And the dude can flat out coach. It was just too much too soon for him at MU. And he let a lot of personal issues get in the way of his professional life.

Yeah that guy spelled with a 'y'. At least I kinda remebered his name.

LOL at Mike Anderson being a terrible coach...Mizzou would kill to have him back. Come on now, he won a lot of games and left the program in very good shape.

Are you seriously telling me that you wouldn't fire KA tomorrow and hire Mike Anderson if he were willing to take the job? You are nuts.

No one is going to get a few years in 2015, though.

If you hire a long-termer to do a rebuild, I hope they understand that they probably aren't going to be the guy who gets to take the team to the promised land. Mizzou has won too much and has too much $$$ to settle for being the dregs of the SEC for half a decade.

Snyder's reputation in the NBA is very good. He's an above average coach. A decade plus of maturity went a long way.
