know why the Cards did not ask for a review of the DP that the announcers raved about what a great play the SS made? While they were carrying on about how good it was they showed the replay twice and both times it looked like the runner's foot got the base before the shortstop's foot did.

I didn't watch it closely but it did look pretty close. I don't remember the runner complaining. That's what usually drives a review.

I did see Cabrera lose it though. And saw two newer stupid baseball rules come into play. The three batter minimum for pitchers kept Cabrera in the game when he didn't want to or need to be there and would have been replaced. And warning both benches after a hit batter. Everyone knew it was nowhere near intentional. The ump tossing Girardi was also stupid. He just had two guys possibly injured. Let him have his rant and move on.

One other thing I remember. Carlson caught a fly ball in short CF with a chance to throw out a runner at the plate. But he couldn't get it close enough to the plate for a play. Why can't outfielders throw the ball accurately any more? We see it every game. A throw ends up 10 feet or more from where it was intended. It's embarrassing that major league players can't perform a basic fundamental play. Edmonds could only grimace as he watched a play he's made probably hundreds of times. It says to me they just don't care enough to be good at it. All it takes is practice. It's their job. They just don't have much pride in doing that part of it well. Exit velocity and launch angle are all they're worried about today. It's just another little thing that's causing me to gradually lose interest.

Lonnie Smith
Vince Coleman
Willie McGhee
Ray Lankford
Ron Gant
So Taguchi

Just off the top of my head, guys that couldn't throw me out at the plate scoring from 2B on a line drive. Not all of them can throw like Ankiel, Whiten, Felix Jose, Hendrick, Ballgame, or Bruno. We've been blessed through the years with some real gun slingers out there. But there have been some awful rag arms too.

Ugh.. You had to bring up those guys. Yeah I know. At least half of them are not good, probably more honestly. It just irks me every time I see it. You get paid big money. You may not have a cannon hanging there but everyone should be able to get any throw on line. Especially when they have time to wait and step into it.

Add Beltran to that list of slingers. Who can forget the throw he made after telling Jon Jay to step aside I got this. Lol.

Man...Beltran literally had no legs when he played here, but good lord he could throw. That play you're talking about was the ultimate big boy move. And Jay, speaking of rag arms. Lol. Dude needed three hops and 10 yards of curve to get it past the mound from medium CF.

Berkman was another. Zero feet or knees when he was with the Birds. And still threw darts.

Larry Walker too. Man, there have been some gems.

That throw made me cringe for sure. I played outfield most my playing days, I never had the big gun throwing arm but I could dang sure throw it to the base I wanted it to go to in baseball, then softball in my older days. I pitched and played CF from 12 to 14 years old and did not throw hard at all compared to others but I just did not walk guys. It's amazing how many outs you can get just making guys hit the ball, especially at that age.
