Any early picks for next years state championship picture??

Class 6 Liberty North vs Desmet
Class 5 Webb City vs Jackson
Class 4 Who Knows
Class 3 Who Knows
Class 2 Trinity vs Cardinal Ritter
Class 1 Valle vs Lutheran North

Predictions for next year already?

Not knowing what classes the private schools will be in muddies the water a bit.

If I was a betting man:

Class 3: Trinity, Valle Catholic, Cardinal Ritter (think they'll be Class 2), Kennett, Lutheran St. Charles, St. Charles West, Blair Oaks.

Class 2: Cardinal Ritter, Lutheran North, Caruthersville

Sounds like there are more Might Mite Programs that are going to be feeding in... so I see no reason it wont be

1 Brentwood
2 Cardinal Ritter
3 Lutheran North
4. Trinity
5 Jackson
6 De Smet

If the new system does result in the likes of Camdenton, WC and the other heavy hitters in that class moving up... I really have no idea who that creates an opportunity for in the new Class 4. A couple years ago I'd say CJ was a strong contender.

Yeah CJ went from contender to pretender really fast.

Bolivar and West Plains come to mind. Monett was young this year. Any privates dropping down without the multiplier?

I think a lot of schools would if they had to have played Joplin, Carthage, and Webb this year,,,substitute 3 average 4A schools for those three and CJ might have been 7-3 or 6-4

CJ actually had more trouble with Willard than those 3 teams, which makes zero sense.

Depends how much class 4 gets weakened by moving teams up.
People keep saying class 4 will be weakened but I see it as evened. Making each class competitive from top to bottom is the goal and it appears to have that possibility except for the "privates problem".

If Webb City, Camdenton, Ladue, Platte County and Kearney move out of Class 4 then the class will be weakened. It could be much more competitive though.

Reminds me of 2008 when Platte County and Harrisonville went Class 4 and Maryville dropped to Class 2. Class 3 had new teams with a chance. Cassville filled that void.

Blair Oaks was a couple kids from class 2 this year. With several private schools moving up, could they drop down again?

With Class 5 'filling up' (no longer the catch-all) you will see upward movement between classes 2-4, not downward. This will be mitigated some by the large number of schools going 8-man. Right now, I'd say conservatively the top 10 enrollment schools in those classes will be moving up.

Private school movement happens after the classes are set and there's no further adjustment. One does not affect the other. There could be an exception to this if a Class 4 or 5 enrollment size private school has a success factor large enough to bump them up to Class 6. Since there's a mandate for 32 schools exactly in Class 6, I could see downward movement in that scenario.

When they added the multiplier, it changed some classifications to equal out the classes.

It is nearly impossible to guess with all the changes and not knowing where anyone will be. Class one will lose Valle but all the other usual suspects should stay at the top.. STL all star teams will certainly be a factor, especially if they keep playing class 2. Big 8 will have a say in class 3 as usual. If Lamar's new coach can keep it together they could begin ascending back to the level they were a few years ago. Class 4 could become wide open if most of the major players from years past move to class 5. Class 5 could become the most competitive with all the usual suspects plus the additions. Class 6 same old same old.
