Any big name transfers in GBB?

At least three noteworthy transfers involving the 5 Springfield public schools. One transferring from one city school to another, the other two transferring from city schools to outlying schools.

The Nixa girls had a nice offseason. Got 3 varsity players (with another one still up in the air.)

This sounds more like a college recruiting report than a girls high school message board. I guess everyone is recruiting and moving around these days!

I know of one Nixa transfer from a Springfield school, where are the other two coming from?
One is the little sister of the Springfield girl, the other from Spokane. Both Freshmen, both varsity players and contributors immediately.

Transferring is out of control. Let's stop pretending there are rules in place against transferring for sports reasons.

Totally disagree. If a family wants to move to another school district for a better sports situation I do not see anything wrong with that. A player only has 4 years to play high school sports, that’s it. Inept coaches can coach for decades. So if a player and their family want to move to a different school that can maximize their four years of eligibility, more power to them. BTW, my kids have been done with high school sports for a few years and we never transferred

My local team is very competitive most years, but will probably never win a state championship. That's OK, they're "our" girls and very proud of them.

Nixa is a hard enough school to get varsity playing time at. It must suck to think that you have made it as a junior or senior only to have transfers come along and take your spot. There is nothing that can be done about it but the girls who are losing their spot have worked since they were 5 and their parents have probably spent thousands of dollars. (No. I don't have a girl at Nixa)

If they aren’t good enough it’s not “their spot.” I hate that line of thought. Get better.

Fair Grove was good enough to make the final four in BB and VB with no transfers for several years in a row. Who beat them.....transfers.

I agree with this. Basketball is supposed to be fun for the kids and something they can look back on with hopefully good memories. It's not so fun when they work hard year after year at their craft and then not get to play because a high school coach is either inept or favors certain players, especially ones that don't even make basketball their main sport. Or more talented and heralded players move in and take up their playing time. This leads to players quitting altogether - even club ball - when if they had played at a different school and different coach they would have flourished. I've seen it first hand, including very recent examples from the schools we are talking about in this thread, both boys and girls.

Some will say that this is a life lesson for them, and to an extent, it is. But life is also about creating opportunities for success, either for yourself or for your kids. Not every school or coach is the right fit for a given player, and vice versa. And that goes beyond just sports, with the school part.

I actually do not agree with transferring for athletic reasons. Its part of what is wrong today. If something is too tough or you are not getting your way, pack up and go somewhere you can.
Dont get me wrong, I am sure winning a title is great, no matter how you do it, But I am not sure there would be anything quite like kids that grew up together fighting through everything and bringing a Championship home.

Was the FG transfer a D1 player that also happened to play club vb with their stud?? Like strafford.

I just have to laugh at some of these comments. FG has had transfers on both the boys’ and Girls’ side of sports. Lets just keep it clear and honest

Which of those schools has a supt on the board that votes on whether or not to allow a transfer?
