Another St. Louis school self reports an ineligible player.

McClure North is the 4th St. Louis team to report ineligible players in the past 3 weeks.

Error? Here again they are using the word error like they had a typo on the roster.
Home field? They used an ineligible player for 6 games that should now be forfeited and the only penalty is going on the road for a playoff game?
Or did I not read that right?
Ritter caught a lot of flak but the administration manned up, did the right thing and canceled the season.

You heard from a lot of people in St Louis that everybody did it when CR got busted...So are they all turning on each other now and the coaches are like hey we have to report or we are going to get turned in now? Seems like the St Louis coaches thought that these were just mere suggestions and not actual rules...

Nice painting of a broad brush. Who were the St. Louis people saying that everybody did it?

It’s another day that ends with Y. This is the norm. I’d almost bet everything I own this isn’t the last school. LN and Trinity I’m sure did as well. When you get away with stuff you get relaxed. Schools are ratting each other out. It’s only a matter of time.

Not trying to paint with a board brush. But many of those trying to either justify or explain what happened have said that everybody does it. One of the dads from CR even said that.

Terrible look for our STL schools. Still the thing that gets to me the most is what you said, it seems to be no accountability in these statements. No one admitting the wrong doing. It makes me sick

Well again, it does look like some schools were looking at the rules as mere suggestions.
But here is the thing it looks like MSHSAA was asleep at the wheel on this. If anything to me it looks like at some point they lost control and now some credibility in the ability to enforce the rules and you had some rogue schools/coaches who were taking advantage of this.

It’s impossible to know without all the facts. If the player was eligible in every way, but his name was just left off of the roster then that’s no big deal.

If he was not eligible and he was left off of the roster on purpose coaching staff and AD should all be fired and North banned from any further post season play.

I have a feeling he wasn’t eligible and they knew it

This is nothing like the Ritter issue. There was no intent to deceive and another school did not report them. McCluer North and a lot of STL schools did internal reviews after the Ritter deal came out to make sure they were playing by the rules. During this review, North discovered they had messed up and not put a kids name on the official roster. It really falls on the AD since the coaches have no way of knowing that. Plus, the kid involved is not a star player so there would be very little incentive to play him if he was ineligible. Ritter's level of cheating is the extreme case and we should not compare every ineligible player case to that one. As far as accountability, North's AD has been placed on leave.

If that’s the facts then I don’t see even putting him on leave. Make him buy donuts or something. Good lord if I got put on leave every time I screwed something up at work I might as well quit.

Like I said intent is everything

Any AD does that does not have the Head Coach look at Eligibility Roster before its submitted is foolish. I would venture to say almost every AD tells their HC to look over eligibility roster before they submit to MSHSAA. And, yes HC have access to those eligibility roster, and if they say they don't then that's a problem. More eyes to catch a potential mistake the better. Responsibility falls on both AD and HC.

McCluer North is so far from private. Either way its a bad look and i am willing to bet a couple more may come to light.

If it truly was a mistake and honest oversight, putting the AD on leave is a bit harsh IMHO. Intent should matter. Mistakes get made. This smells like something worse than is being advertised.

There was no mistake when Coach Kilmer wanted to put that needle in Wendal's leg. The Mox does not condone cheating what-so-ever. Stay loyal just like The Mox did with Jewels. Here in the Great State of Texas, we may drink, go to strip clubs and steal cop cars, but by God when it comes to football, we play by the rules.

Come on Kane! The Mox loved Jules! He stayed faithful to her in highschool. Now in college, he had to pay for his Brown education some how!

i found this interesting, as this is not what McCluer did

3 Minimum Penalties - Ineligible Student: The minimum penalty for using an ineligible student during the regular season and in MSHSAA tournament activity is as follows: a. Team Sports (baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball). The school must: 1. Forfeit all contests involved. 2. Adjust its place in conference standings and/or relinquish its place in tournament standings. 3. Return team and individual awards

They should have re-seeded the district tourney, All they did was give the other team the home field.
