At 1:45 am last night, 10 juveniles were wounded and 1 dead in a gang shootout in St Louis at 14th St and Washington in the downtown business district.

We can blame gun laws, police, the St Louis prosecuting attorney's office, and social injustice, but I have one question...where in the hell are these juveniles parents!!!

You never had nights when you were 16 years old where you came in at 2:00 on the weekends?

I had a midnite curfew through high school graduation. Your father must have been a very lenient guy !
No, he would have killed me if he knew.
There were many things that caused us not to get home early, or overnight events like scouting and church things and stuff. And we also had a bunch of country boys with shotguns in their back windows.
I am just saying their parents are probably doing the best they can, and have no idea what their kids are really up to, just like some of our parents did.

Yeah... I had a few of those "sneaky late nights out" myself. LOL ;)

Bottom line - if your teenage child is running the city streets at 1:45am with a gun, then I question your parenting abilities.

A clarification from today's news; The shootings occurred at a teenage party at a vacant office on the 4th floor of an office building on Washington St. The party was posted on social media and those attending supposedly had to notify the poster to get exact location and key code to enter the building, although others working in the building had complained previously about the entrance door being unlocked art times.

I always had a rifle in my vehicle at 16.
Yeah I know, I don't think things have changed that much in rural America. Even back in the day kids would drink and the occasional fist fight would break out, but no one ever worried about someone pulling out a gun and start shooting. I admit we did our share of teenage hooliganisms and just never got caught. But we were afraid of getting caught and knew there would be serious consequences at home, school, and with the law.
