That entire article makes no sense, Abbott didn't even announce the enhanced inspections until last week, and they haven't started yet. Exactly how could any policy that has not even been implemented be a factor in food prices??

enhanced inspections just started this week, Mexican cartels are burning trucks on the Mexican side northbound lanes to try to get the govt to stop the enhanced inspections.

Why in the world do you think Mexican drug cartels and human trafficker's don't want officers looking inside the trucks??

You people would rather have drugs and illegal's pouring across our border then turn around and cry about violent crime and overdose deaths. Nothing in those trucks we cant live without for 3-4 days.

For the Free Market in America...I'm no way about a free Market with the rest of the Globe. I want us to operate from a position of power to dominate Trade and to exploit the rest of the World for our citizens benefit.

IF a slight delay in the Supply chain will stop Drugs and reduce the cost of all the ramifications that come with illegal drugs ..then yes inspect the Trucks.....and If we can keep out all the illegal criminals coming to America because they are not principled enough to stand up and change the shat holes they come from, well I'm all for that as well.

Simple Solution President Biden....Fix the Border crisis and stop criminals from pouring over the border. Maybe Biden should do something about fixing the Supply chain issue as well he's had more than plenty of time to implement some plan.

It's wonderful that at least Some politicians are actually implementing a plan to Deal with TWO legit national problems. Now they are getting attacked for actually doing their job. We live in some Democratic Bizarro World now.

If people try to fix a problem with real world solutions then they Now are the Problem.

Same way we pay for the illegals schooling and their criminal activities etc. allocate funds in the budget.... It's weird that other countries can Keep their borders secure but we can't? A implementation of more Walls, more Man power and technology should do the trick. And making the crime of illegally entering the country painful would also be a huge deterrent as well.

For decades the US chamber of commerce and their GOP friends loved the cheap labor and turned their heads regarding immigrants, legal and illegal. They love kicking US union arse. Reagan even gave them amnesty.

Now it’s nothing more than a political tool to blame immigrants for all our problems and scare fools with talks of crime, caravans and crisis.

These are some of the same tactics someone in Germany used to great effect to manipulate the masses in the 20th century.

I closely follow the news in my area. There is a hell of a lot of crime locally considering how much work is available. And it ain’t immigrants committing the crimes.

I don't disagree that the Business Right loved Cheap disposable labor...I've stated that before. But just because that tactic was popular in the past doesn't mean it should remain in vogue or was even correct then.

And really so the Whole world of Criminal activity revolves around Toots and his bubble world his First World experience is the Norm and the end all to be all data points! First off nobody said that Illegals committed all crimes or even the majority of crimes...that is not the issue. Any crime that a illegal commits was a preventable crime that should of never happened or at least of been hindered by the govt. And the crimes they do commit are a burden to the taxpaying citizen. A bad decision by Reagan no doubt.....But what Biden is doing is worse by any stretch of logic.

And Texas just increased border expenses by 480 million...take the 9 billion away from educating illegals children and deport them and dispose of the criminals in Federal prisons and add in the cost for healthcare they impose on the tax payer....around a total net of all things is 60 billion and we should have very nice deterrent. And we should make the punishment for crossing the border have teeth.
