I know people have a lot to complain about when it comes to Mshsaa. I also get they try to cut down with travel especially with the smaller schools. I feel we don't get a true championship game though. Instead of D1 vs D2, etc. every year why not continue the point system (its not perfect but its not bad either) through districts and use it for seeding. I believe this would create a more balanced playoff and Championship game.

I wish we would go one farther and use the scoring system and seed 1-64 and play from there. NO WAY to prove it would cost more in travel. Some would travel a long ways, others would travel a lot less, in the end, it would still be travel for 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, & 2 (to meet wherever the Title is located.) I get it, some would go a long way while others may not go nearly as far.

It is a good idea but the problem with district seeding is that some teams get artificially high seeds because they are good relative to their schedule which might not include any teams from their district. An average team playing an easy schedule might get a higher seed than a good team that plays really tough teams and loses a game or two in the process. When Carthage first moved to C5 they were in a district with Smith Cotton who seemed like were always seeded #1 yet reliably one of the first teams eliminated. The same has been said of Joplin before especially in their previous nightmare district.

I don't have a problem with the district seeding because overall I think it works and is a decent system to get the post season started. Any system will have it's flaws.

Is a balanced playoff and championship game the goal of the playoff system? As far as I'm concerned the only goal is, and should be, determining a champion. I think flipping the semifinal brackets every other year like they do now is senseless and unnecessary.

Think seeding 1-64 would be crazy with travel.

re seed with district champions only 4 teams would have to possibly travel long distance. This scenario alot better chance of two best teams in championship game.

Because I believe things would be earned such as home field and getting the best possible championship game possible. how often do we get a championship game that is clearly not the best 2 teams in the state.

Honestly I would do away with districts, go back to a 10 week season and seed the top 32 in each class based on the point system.

What if they reseeded after each round? Travel would get progressively further with each round, but at least you're not sending Granby East Newton on a 4 hour drive to Saint Louis to lose to Saint Louis Lutheran North.

Example:

C4 D5
------------
1 Camdenton 49.32
2 St. Francis Borgia 45.21
3 Rolla 40.43
4 Union 38.86
5 Helias Catholic 31.93
6 Washington 26.34
7 Sullivan 24.95
8 Pacific 15.75

#8 Pacific @ #1 Camdenton - Camdenton wins
#5 Helias Catholic @ #4 Union - Helias wins
#7 Sullivan @ #2 St. Francis Borgia - Borgia wins
#6 Washington @ #3 Rolla - Rolla wins

Seeds 1, 2, 3, 5 advance to Sectionals

C4 D6
---------------
1 Webb City 56.39
2 Neosho 44.2
3 Marshfield 38.55
4 Carl Junction 37.52
5 Hillcrest 31.73
6 Bolivar 27.35
7 McDonald County 26.05
8 Monett 25.7

#8 Monett @ #1 Webb City - Webb City wins
#5 Hillcrest @ #4 Carl Junction - Carl Junction wins
#7 McDonald County @ #2 Neosho - Neosho wins
#6 Bolivar @ #3 Marshfield - Marshfield wins

Seeds 1, 2, 3, 4 advance to Sectionals

Now, reseed the 8 remaining teams in Section 3:

1 Webb City 56.39
2 Camdenton 49.39
3 Borgia 45.21
4 Neosho 44.2
5 Rolla 40.43
6 Marshfield 38.55
7 Carl Junction 37.52
8 Helias 31.93

#8 Helias @ #1 Webb City - Webb City wins
#5 Rolla @ #4 Neosho - Neosho wins
#7 Carl Junction @ #2 Camdenton - Camdenton wins
#6 Marshfield @ #3 Borgia - Borgia wins

Now, take these 4 teams and pair them up with the 4 survivors from Section 4 and reseed:

1 Webb City 56.39
2 Camdenton 49.39
3 Smithville 47.5
4 Kearney 45.82
5 Borgia 45.21
6 Platte County 45.14
7 Neosho 44.2
8 Excelsior Springs 42.25

#8 Excelsior Springs @ Webb City - Webb City wins
#5 Borgia @ #4 Kearney - Kearney wins
#7 Neosho @ #2 Camdenton - Camdenton wins
#6 Platte County @ #3 Smithville - Platte County wins

Seeds 1, 2, 3, 6 Advance to the state tournament.

Finally, these four teams are paired with the four remaining teams from the other side of the state and are reseeded 1 final time for a state tournament. Instead of crowning 8 district champions, we would simply crown 8 state tournament qualifiers.

Why do the best 2 teams need to play in the title game? Most playoff brackets in most sports do not guarantee that, including the Super Bowl.
Should we have a loser's bracket like every other HS sport also? It would be nice for the 6th best team in the state to at least get a plaque and have a banquet and stuff celebrating their place in history among the all-time goods.

1.How can you compare over 300 amateur teams to 32 team full the most elite athletes in the world? Its apples and oranges.
2. Are you comparing track & field to football? Funny part about this it doesn't have a losers bracket. Sure other sports have a 3rd and 4th place game but I won't exactly call that a losers bracket. Don't make things up to prove your point. It never works out.

The funny part about your argument is in Missouri, everyone gets a shot after their season is over. You are actually arguing AGAINST seeing the best in the championship game and somehow you spin it into handing out 6th place plaques. How funny is that.

In order:
There are not 300 teams in a Missouri football playoff bracket.
I said nothing about track and field.
I'll call any game where a team is still playing that has lost a tournament contest a loser's bracket, as they have already lost.
I'm making nothing up.
It always works out.
Damn funny.

It's a three year rotation and it's fine. Gives us as fans an opportunity to see rare match-ups. Also like the hosting rule, as any team should have to face a hostile environment at least once on their run.

I like this because number 1 seeds are punished after districts because a #2 or #3 seed has hosted less games and get rewarded with hosting a quarter or semi for not being a top seed
Last season Higginsville took their undefeated record and higher seed, and travelled 4 hours to Clark County to play in the coldest game of the season. Fortunately for the Huskers, they came out on top, but they deserved a better draw for their body of work.

What if they seed the top 48 team by the point system, and top 16 teams have a bye week. I really think that a team that has less than 2 wins and less than 20 points shouldnt be in the playoffs
Example
1. Ladue 57.1
2 Webb City 56.39
3.West Plains 55.95
4.Camdenton 49.32
5. Hazelwood East
6.Smithville 47.5
7.Kearney 45.83
8. St Francis Borgia 45.21
9.Platte County 45.14
10. MICDS 44.93
ETC

#6 Lincoln College Prep 37.05 @ #3 Excelsior Springs 42.25
#5 Van horn 37.73 @ 4 Layette (St Joseph) 41.68
#4 Or 5 @#1 Smithville
#3 or 6 @#2 Kearney
