#10 in Missouri Class 5
Glendale Falcons (13-6, 5-0) - 68
Vs.
Kickapoo Chiefs (14-8, 4-1) - 37

Largest margin-of-victory for Glendale in the series since a 34-point win in 1972.

First time Glendale has ever turbo clocked the Chiefs.

Glendale leads the all-time series in games played at Kickapoo 21-13. This was the first regularly scheduled meeting between the teams at one of the high school sites since Jan. 4th, 2002. They did play at Glendale in the championship game of the Winter Classic tourney in Jan. 2011.

Monty Johal scored 23 points and now has 2,343 career points. Jordan Walton scored 15 and has now passed Parkview's Matt Miller on the all-time SPS scoring list with 1,770 career points. He's third all-time behind DGB and Monty.

Doesn't let up for the Falcons moving forward with Parkview, Joplin, Rolla, Hillcrest, and a recently added game against Hogan Prep on Feb. 19th still on the schedule before districts.

I didn't get to see this game, but I think most of us Kickapoo fans knew we were going to take one on the chin this season, especially once Anton Brookshire went down with the injury. I'm actually glad this group of Glendale seniors got a win over Kickapoo -- it's a really fun group to watch, and they have earned it. It will seem strange to watch them next season. I feel like Johal and Walton have been there forever...

I'm also glad they've moved this game back to the school gyms. The atmospheres will be a lot better than they were at Drury. And maybe it will also help point out how inadequate both facilities are (especially Glendale's) for big games, and provide a little more push for getting new gyms. (wishful thinking, perhaps)

700-800 fans in POO's gym (or at Glendale's Falcon Court) makes for a much better playing atmosphere than 700 in the 3,100 seat O'Reilly Family Event Center. These new facilities are very nice, but games don't play well in them without a large crowd (ditto JQH).

SPS will go back to the voters (more than likely in April 2019) for another Bond vote. This time they're pretty much addressing schools that scored 70 or below on the Master Facilities Plan, which Glendale did (69). That'll put Kickapoo and Central on the back burner for a while, but at least Glendale will be looking at a new gym or renovating the current one. I see it opening about 2021-22 giving them a year of planning and construction after the vote in 2019. I think it'll pass this time, because they've dropped the combined campus idea, which people on the north/west sides hated and I don't think they're going to close nearly as many schools as before.

Glendale got a clean sweep in the 2018 edition of rivalry week with a 77-68 victory over "old school" rival Parkview. Glendale has now won 25 out of last 28 meetings against the Vikings. (That'll change next year, as I assume Parkview will be the big favorites at home with Freeman, Taylor, & Morrison.) Johal had yet another game where he scored 30+ points and Jordan Walton added 20.

Monty Johal and Jordan Walton set a new program record by playing in their 104th game. Spud Harbour held the old record at 103 games played.
