Not attending that one for sure. Unless something changes I am heading down to Liberty hosting Lee's Summit.
I'm guessing week 4 you will go out to Tey's Burgers with NorthKansasCity, then head over to Zona Rosa to shop at Chico's and Claire's before heading over to Park Hill to see the Bulldogs win a close one?

Nope will see if the Clown wants to go to Minsky's then over......................NKC can shove it.

85 and counting. Great to see that Pius parking lot full every early morning on way to work. Schedules coming into focus but, of course, class and district assignments won't be until late August...............

Will be interesting to see if Rockhurst plays the enrollment game to get to 5, will be interesting to see if pius plays the game to get to 4. So many moving parts this year or atleast it seems that way, I will not be doing a mock lineup as it will be damn near impossible.

Will Blair Oaks move down to C2? If so Odessa has a real shot to win C3. If Pius is C4 will make particularly the Savannah game lots more interesting but I do think they will be down a bit regardless where they wind up. No read on Rock yet but a move down to 5 would definitely change that landscape, too.

Putting together what I "think" will be a real good batch of Out of Region games of the week in Pick Em this fall. Battle of Callaway County kicks it off then Week 2 the Lutheran North-Blair Oaks rematch in Wardsville.

This weird June weather has me already in a big time HSFB mood................

Rockhurst has 2,350 all-male students. They will always be class 6.

I have no clue where you get your numbers but you are far off sir. Rockhurst has been sliding in enrollment for 4 years from 1424 all the way down to 1296 last year. The cutoff for 6 was 1278. They cut 96 in enrollment from 23 to 24 they need 1/5 of the cut to make last years number

As much as it pains me to say it, Odessa isn't C3 next season. While Odessa was competitive in the majority of games last season and was a super young team. Odessa has a new head coach who is coming from the inner city and was filled with all stars. Quite a change of pace to corn fed country boys and an ever shifting talent pool. Plus, numbers at Odessa have been way down. A few injuries and the team takes a major step back

You know that area what should we expect from Schartz and rival OG? I have them somewhere in the neighborhood of where they finished last season.

OG was definitely an ascending team last season. I am not too familiar with their roster. So no idea how much they return. If the majority of starters are returning, watch out. Oak Grove will be a team that could make a run.

I'm excited what Gabe Johnson can do for Webb this year . Obviously he isn't the best player in the coc with cantwell in it ...but he's the fastest and most electric QB I've ever seen Webb have . Maybe the most explosive player in the coc . I think with him last year nixa and Platte county would have still beat them but I highly doubt anyone else would have touched them .

If you are the coach of a mediocre high school football team in Missouri,,,,and your job depends on winning 3 more football games this year ,,,, and you can pick any one player in the COC to be on your team do you take Cantwell or Gabe Johnson

FWIW the MaxPreps all classes Preseason Top 10:

1. DeSmet (minus Duff that should be interesting)
2. Nixa (no further intro needed)
3. Cardinal Ritter (did they learn from last year?)
4. Lee's Summit (head of an amazing KC C6 pack)
5. CBC (cannot wait to see how they do in the GA mountains)
6. Lee's Summit North (some good talent back per usual)
7. Platte County (would be my #1 had they not essentially lost their whole starting D)
8. Liberty (mammoth up front)
9. Blue Springs South (actually my KC #1 again FWIW)
10. Liberty North (big mystery squad)

11-25:

11. Kirkwood (pulled off one of the biggest upsets in C6 in several years)
12. St. Pius X (love what this program is doing but schedule is doomsday)
13. Seneca (Big 8 never disappoints)
14. Helias Catholic (not sure I would have had them this high, frankly)
15. Park Hill (a definite C6 sleeper especially if they balance the O)
16. MICDS (Fred has moved on to KS)
17. Rockhurst (always solid question is will they be competitive or a top gun in a loaded class?)
18. Blue Springs (yet another KC C6 team to watch)
19. Carthage (another not sure I'd rate quite this high)
20. Columbia Rock Bridge (watch that Park Hill opener could be another classic)
21. Lutheran North (took some player losses plus HC and key coordinator gone)
22. Blair Oaks (Week 2 hosting LN is a can't miss game. Falcons gonna Falcon again in 25)
23. Jackson (always fun to watch and added a key home Week 2 game vs. Louisville Ballard)
24. Republic (honestly no read on what has become a strong program)
25. Kearney (expect them to move up the rankings as the season goes on. C4 a mystery beyond them and LN, frankly, if it stays as 24)

I am with you on Helias. They will be starting from scratch on both O and D lines (1 starter returning on O line). Every where else they should be ok, just depends on how fast the lines will gel together.

Rockhurst could be a wild card this year. They lost a lot. But with their numbers and recruiting, you never know.

We are going on 15 seasons since Rock won a state championship. They made it there in 14 and 18, but that is getting to be a long drought.

2024 6-4
2023 10-2 (Close loss to state champs in playoffs)
2022 5-5
2021 4-6
2020 5-3
2019 7-4

We have been seeing unparalleled levels of success from Rock in several sports in recent years. But football?
Is this a bounce-back year? Can they not recruit like they used to because of the other options available? This recent couple of years kind of makes you go, meh! Getting blasted by Bishop Miege last season was not a good look, either.

St. James Academy opening over in KS didn't help nor did the emergence of Aquinas as a FB power. 2023 was an exceptional team just ran into Liberty North's peak team but that was an all time classic semi. One of my top 5 games since I started attending HSFB going on (my God) 50 years!

My #1 will, by the way, always likely be the 2011 C5 semifinal at Staley hosting Lee's Summit West. 7 OT mega thriller.
Best game I watched on our modern tech webcast another hard to imagine topping Kearney's impossible 17-14 upset of Webb City in the final year the Championships were held at the Dome in the Lou.
