I was thinking this was going to be a great game. After watching Miller the last few weeks I have my doubts. It’s all about matchups though so who knows. Miller will have to play a lot better defensively to have a chance.

Haven't gotten to see either team play yet this year but Pierce city hasn't given up any points since week one which is incredible at any level.

I would imagine Miller is going to have a tough time scoring which means their defense is going to have to play lights out just like you said

One thing I will say though is that the Miller offensive line is going to have to step it up and not take plays off. They could be so dominant in the trenches with their size but have a tendency to play hard for two plays and then take a couple plays off and repeat.

Based off of Miller playing at home and the Pierce City defense not facing a true offense all year long.
Good reasons.
I too chuckle at the "PC has shut out X number in a row" comments.
Some teams make sure to leave the starting D in and pull the starting O. Some run the score a little higher and then "let" the other team have some fun too.
Since both teams return most everyone from last year, I don't know if we see the teams from the first qtr last year of the last 3 qtrs.
I'm sure PC says they made adjustments and dominated.
Miller says their QB was sick and made too many turnovers.
Based on that game and the season to date, i'd pick PC.
Based on my thoughts PC can't improve much from last year and Miller is better and can definitely play better than last year, I think it's far from obvious who is better.
The winner likely gets the district 2 seed and hosts the likely district rematch (a lot of likely and not sure thing) plus likely Conference champ.
Might be the best case for either with Thayer laying ahead in districts.

The O-line is the key. They have shown the ability to be great and have also shown the ability to sleep walk through a game.
Last year the big difference in the game was PCs tight end. Miller had an answer for everything else but they converted every key down via the TE.

Miller by 40

This kind of reminds me of when LaSalle was at Greenfield about 15 years ago and had some athletic teams that faced Marionville. Probably more athletes overall at Miller, but Pierce City is probably just better as a football team.

Lockwood has played both teams close. Does this speak to lockwood being a good team or how PC and Miller might not be all that?

It is a little bit of both. Lockwood was young last year, starting several freshmen and sophomores and played around .500. Have some talented line play. PC and Miller are very athletic and fairly well coached. Both have several that are 3 and 4 year starters.

I’m taking Miller in this one, and taking Miller as the sleeper in class 1. Look for them to surprise some teams. I think they upset PC this week.

Lockwood is much better than I had them figured for after seeing them at the jamboree, I will give them that. I have Miller and PC at #7 & 8 in my class 1 poll so I would say that Lockwood is better than anticipated and above average in Class 1. Not to ruffle any feathers, just my opinion.

PC, Miller or Lockwood could go on a run in the postseason.

Pierce City's team this year is special. That Tight End is a 4 year starter at Middle LB too. Six other seniors on the team started as freshmen. They get their #1 receiver from last year back for this one, along with another senior LB who has been out. They will be missing my expert advice from the stands, but I hope to make the rematch (hopefully at PC).

They’d have to get past Thayer first.

Miller and PC will likely be #2 and #3 seeds and would meet in district semi if all goes as planned. Thayer would play the winner.

Didn't they only graduate one Senior last year? I heard he didn't even play much. So PC returns everybody from last year.

Miller this year wouldn’t touch that Greenfield team you speak of. Obviously my opinion but that’s how I see it

Maybe both. Lockwood is very well coached with great game planning but I just don’t see the greatness in the other two teams

Not comparing the teams for teams per se, but just the overall appearance of the game. Those Greenfield teams around 04-06 were pretty talented.

Once again not comparing teams, comparing the similarity that this seems like another situation of a team that Coach LaSalle is coaching that is talented, but just not quite as talented, or as well coached as a whole, as another team in the area of their same size and close proximity.:rolleyes:

or 2002?

or 1987?

or...not sure this is the avenue you want to take :)
Why 02 or 87? Miller didn't play Adrian those years. If you are just gonna pick good years I can think of a few more for Miller but why? We have a head to head meeting......No?
