This is pretty amazing:

Thursday was a heady day for the history of Tates Creek Middle School in Lexington.

Three of its former students, all of whom played basketball together at the Lexington junior high/middle school in the late 1980s, coached their teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. And one pulled off the biggest upset of the day.

Northern Kentucky’s Darrin Horn, Maryland’s Kevin Willard and Princeton’s Mitch Henderson all attended Tates Creek Middle together.

That Tates Creek team is still talked about amongst UK faithful. Horn and Kevin’s older brother (name escapes me) were studs on a Tates Creek HS team that finished 2nd in 90 or 91. Henderson moved to Indiana, where he was originally from, for his HS career. Henderson and Horn both had darned good careers at Princeton and WKU, respectively. I’d imagine the basketball IQ on that MS team was a tad higher than average.
