2A Threats

Who are the 2A teams in SWMO that have the best chance to make a deep run? Hartville, Miller, Skyline and Blue Eye? Can Sparta challenge this year or are they a season away?

There hasn't been a 2A in like 20 years. It is class 2...that being said...blue eye and miller have my pre-season nod to make a run. Richland could be decent also if they get a good path.

Skyline definitely should improve over last season, not as sure about Hartville who lost their best player Chisum. Blue Eye and Miller are for sure in the running.

Wheaton and Crane were very good Class 2 teams last year but I have no idea what they have returning.

Ash Grove should be better but questionable if they can get past any of the above schools. Ditto Sparta and Richland.

Skyline had several main players quit basketball and one get injured. They will not be as good as last year.

Saw on another thread that possible Class 1 breaks would be around 80. If Newburg gets pushed back up to Class 2, does that put them in the running to possibly make noise? They did beat Richland last year, and didn't lose a player, while Richland had a couple seniors.

Always possible. Lack of experience and depth maybe too much to overcome.

I do not have much info on class 1 or 2. Are you thinking class 2 would be easier for Newburg then class 1? Just curious?

No, on the Frisco League Thread there has been one or two that have really touted Newburg this season, one even going so far as to say they were going to win the conference. To do that, they would have to beat Licking. I was just asking the question that if they are as good as some people think they are, should they be put into the Class 2 conversation.

I don't know about lack of experience. They all played varsity last year and finished tied for 2nd in the conference. Everyone is back, new coach.

IMO - the best thing about sophomores and 1st year Coaches are they become Juniors and 2nd year Coaches

When this group of Sophomores are Seniors, they are going to be pretty tough. When you add their next two groups coming up with what they have. As long as they all stay together. There were rumors of one of them heading to Rolla this summer, her sister would probably have gone, too.

They won’t beat them this year but could in 1-2 years. Did the Smith girl from Licking from a couple of years ago that was All-State play in College?
