I think that was the year when SG had a back (Adam Schwendt?) with around 3K coming in and he tore his ACL returning the opening kickoff.

I remember the kid tried to come back and play but couldn't do it.

Pretty sad/disappointing as a neutral spectator. I'm not sure if him being healthy changes the outcome or not but I think it would have definitely been a better game.

Maryville semifinal was in 2004.

He was less than 75 yards from breaking Brad Hocker's single season rushing yards in a season record going into the game against Harrisonville.

It was either going to be mud or sand. The field at Memorial Stadium was destroyed in the Sectional game that season in a monsoon rain against Osage. It was a close game, but Harrisonville beat Maryville twice that season in close contests both times.

Yes, it was. Might have been a decent game if that hadn't happened. I was in the crowd and hoping to see him set the MO single-season rushing yards record.

That's the first time I watched that. Cringe worthy of how bad we played. H-Ville was rolling people to that point, don't know if it would have changed the final outcome of that game, but it would have not been a shutout(if Schwent plays). We hadn't seen a defense like that all year. Pretty impressive group of athletes they had.

Chillicothe the Class 4 title in 1985. They lost the championship in 1988 to Lutheran North.
By the way, interesting note about the 1985 team.. It was a senior laden team. That group of seniors that ended their high school career as state champions, started their high school career losing every one of their freshmen team games.
