#2 Webb City 13 Carthage 20 - Final

So far neither team seems very capable of stopping the other . With Carthage getting the ball first in the second half something is going to have to change for Webb to pull this out
I've been impressed with the Carthage o line...but webb is going to come out and do what they did to Willard after half. Seen it too many times to believe otherwise.
I know a team that plays the same way and should meet WC in the quarters. Can't wait.
To be fair, calpreps had Webb by 28. This has to be one of the biggest upsets in this series in a good while. Carthage dictated the pace of the game with ball control. They are finally starting to click in the 2nd half of the season
Webb isn't the second best team in class 5 but they are pretty good . Carthage has always been a bad matchup for them . Webb is tiny up front on d and what Carthage brings Webb just has to outscore them . Let's see how the cards respond .
I was just telling my buddy ....I think webb probably beats them in the rematch but in two years Carthage may be stupid good

They may have too much self-inflicted damage from the first 3 weeks to catch Raytown South for the 2 spot to get the head-to-head. Playing 3 Class 6 schools helps, but they likely need to win on out to make that happen. Raytown South may fall to 4-3 tonight if Kearney takes care of business.
Carthage did a great job controlling the game. They missed an opportunity to go into half up by 2 scores and then get the ball but when that didn't pan out and it looked like Webb might 'do their thing' they didn't give up and let it happen. Held on defense and by keeping the lead they were able to force Webb City out of their element in late game must-score time.
Didn't really see this coming. I figured WC would run all over the Tigers so I was impressed with how the C defense showed up. It looked like a typical Carthage team really. They kids finally looked confident and experienced and that one big TD where that kid broke about 20 tackles and just would not give up showed me they really really wanted this game. The season has been tough for them so regardless of how the rest plays out this will be a great point of success to remember.

I was at the Ray South game Kearney fell behind 6 0 on a very nifty RB TD run then that was it until garbage time. 40-12.
Their game with Grandview now shows as a forfeit for Grandview. Is it real?
And despite the muffed fumble on the high snap, I still have to question why #3 isn't the starting QB.
I completely agree with this sentiment. He's the only "electric" player they have.
Coach has made some absolutley atrocious calls this year. His time management is crap, getting plays in late is horrible and play calling has been exceptionally terrible. Why are you in the shotgun at 4th and 3?! Instead of getting 3 yards you have to get 8 and Webb runs the ball, stop being a bad coach. Really wish they had gone out of the district that has actually proven himself as a coach instead of whatever this is.
So carthage should be the 1 seed in districts if they beat joplin and Willard? I can't remember the last time they weren't the 1 seed. Has to be more than 10 years ago.
I agree the kid is a game changer and needs to be on the field all the time but it seems like when he is QB in a big game this season the only plays called are QB runs. Last night I think he kept every snap except for one the entire game. If all you run with him in the game is a wildcat offense hoping he will break one for a td you have lost your identity as a team.
I think coach Mac is doing a fine job . It's pretty easy for you to sit there 4 hours away and criticize a guy who bleeds Cardinal red , not seeing all the work he puts in and the pride he has for his hometown . He loves the community , the kids love and respect him no different than they did with Roderique. If Rod spent his entire career playing in this current coc the way it is now do you think he wins 93% of the games ? If you do you are freaking delusional , and that's not a knock on JROD ...he is my favorite human in the world outside of my family. The difference between the best team in the coc and the 4th best might be a holding call at the wrong time or a turnover here or there . Anyone (almost) in the coc can beat you if you don't play clean . Last night wasn't on coach Mac nor were the nixa game. Webbs defense couldn't get off the field last night because Carthage is good up front and the kids ran hard as hell and broke a lot of tackles . Carthage 33 min TOP . Webb 14 and change . 65 plays to 37 . We will see what happens again here in about a month but shit talking a guy busting his ass for the community you are no longer a part of is pathetic
Well said. P.O.S. armchair coaches are just as bad as the guys on here calling kids out.
Most ypc of anyone on the field. With him at QB other teams defense must respect him keeping the ball. Only way forward is 3 at QB and line up split back behind him and run the option. Will help If/when Omari makes it back
