Congrats to Carthage on a solid performance. The Tigers and Nixa are now tied for first in the conference with CJ, Neosho and Ozark locked in a tie for third.

Webb is still in 6th despite their trouncing of Nixa tonight.

Just for, how is WEBB in 5th? WEBB has two losses just like everyone except Nixa and cTOWN with 1 each.

CJ passed up 2 short FG attempts in the first quarter and went for somewhat long 4th downs. They did not convert either. Someone said CJs kicker missed the 1st quarter due to a soccer game. However this did not effect the outcome of the game nearly as much as the CJ secondary getting torched in the 2nd half.

CJ's Tabor made one of the worst throws I've ever seen right after CJ got the onside in a 7 point game. Carthage INT sealed it. tabor over throw a dump off by 10 feet. If he puts it on the receiver the receiver had space to run in front of him. Instead the ball landed right in the DB's lap.

Nothing I have seen indicates any of those team will beat Carthage if Carthage is playing near their capabilities.

I'd take Webb over anybody right now. Although they don't get a second shot at Carthage. What a difference half a season has made. I'm no Webb fan either.

Carthage could of put another seven on but did the honorable thing and took the victory play instead!
So you feel pretty confident they could've scored from the 35 with a minute to go if they wanted? Actually, I'd assume they'd have scored another 21. Why stop at 7 more with your speculation?

Honorable maybe, but if you are up by 7, and have a chance to get 6 more... You should. Sounds wrong, but as long as you get points for districts by winning by up to 13, you should get your 13 then kneel on the PAT if you want.

I agree with this thought from the district standing angle. Wouldn't be frustrated at a coach for doing that.

Would also add that kneeling in the victory formation seals the win, but running or passing for that extra district edge could mean a big fumble or INT and suddenly you could lose. I'd say Coach Guidie did a smart thing first and foremost to seal the victory. And showing up Coach Buckmaster and a good CJ team with punching in one more score was probably nowhere on his mind.

As many predicted, it was a great game that wasn’t decided until the end. Taking a knee was the only logical choice. CJ was too good to risk a turnover.

Given all the positive things CJ did, I thought their coach's negative comments in the paper about the officials and singling out his players mistakes were a little unfortunate. That temperament spreads quickly and is how unhealthy rivalries develop. There were some bad calls (for both teams) but probably not as bad as what I saw at CJ/WC in week 1. In a game between two good teams with 5 lead changes, one team is just going to walk away very disappointed.

Some positives: CJ’s spectacular TD on 4th and 9 with 4 seconds left in the half really demoralized Carthage going into the half. That sophomore Weston kid was virtually unstoppable – he will be a menace to the COC over the next couple years. I was pretty impressed with their QB as well, although they didn’t seem to have a lot of success passing until that last quick scoring drive.

Carthage did a great job at moving the ball in spite of CJ’s defense that was pretty solid up front. A couple of those long pass receptions really got the crowd going and kept drives moving. The defensive stop on 4th down near the goal line was huge, as was the late interception that likely saved the game.
