This one just went final.....................HOW did that subpar Liberty North pull that one off??????
Don't write their epitaph just yet we aren't in the playoffs. The main point is perhaps Liberty North just ain't all that bad after all..................but still think Staley is going to win that district.
Top. I was told in week 2 that LN was an average team so it must be true.
This deviates from the original thread BUT I like that Har-Ber team a lot this year. That is the kind of team I hope to God Kearney starts scheduling..............no coincidence Webb has gotten so invincible in MO the past few years. Scheduling UP works!Springdale Har-Ber just beat Bentonville..Bentonville was ranked #49 in the nation. They beat the defending 6a champs from colorado and a very good team from florida who is 5-1 now
At the time no doubt nobody saw them coming. They couldn't run the ball to save their lives and definitely benefited from the Kearney QB issue. The one thing I did see (and told HomeyR among others) was they definitely have athletes and are generally good physically. I still admit this game was not on my radar (nor in my contest).Top. Bergen Catholic played the #1 team from Florida...lol...not the #49 team.In they years ive followed ark 7a fb. Bentonville has been king and their out of state schedule is top teams from Mississippi, New Jersey, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma etc. One of those teams was on espn tonight ( Burgion Catholic Nj)
Not sure what you're talking about? Im saying Bentonville is ranked #49 this year and Har-Ber beat them.
Yeah I heard from a Webb guy how "bad" a game the Cards played............I maintained it was probably becauseOnly reason i mentioned this is because it might be webbs most impressive win ever. Those guys were super good
I may stretch that list a bit and add Louisiana and Mississippi. One of the states you mentioned contains a metro area similar in size to KC but boy do they have major HSFB: CincinnatiIn high school football , in no particular order ; Texas , California, Ohio, New Jersey , and Florida are by far the best. By alot
My roomate in college went to Bergen Catholic. He was D1, and so were about 12 of his teammates in football. Then throw in some D1 basketball and baseball players that played football as well.New Jersey has a couple of teams that might as well be colleges. They are private schools that are a hot bed for d -1 colleges. Especially in basketball but football as well
Did you happen to watch their game on espn tonight? Both teams had about 6 d-1 guys. No Missouri team can say that
After watching Park Hill Fri. night, I would agree with you.I would not read to much into the result. This was a horrible matchup for Fort O. Yes Liberty North is a solid team but not close to a real contender with an offense that struggles to move the ball. I still see nothing preventing a Staley/Fort O rematch.

And when a team like Bergen Catholic or IMG from Florida have six D1 guys...those are just the ones that will play D1 football. They might have another six that will play baseball or basketball D1. Then fill the rest of the squad with D2 talent. Bergen Catholic can recruit 750 students from Bergen County (2.5 Million people) and surrounding the surrounding tri-state area of 12-15 Million within 30 miles from their school.
Face the challenges you have in front of you, and don't worry how you compare with some far away school that has a different playing field. Not one single school in Missouri would place top 3 in the Parochial state championship in New Jersey. Their pool of talent is bigger than anything you can imagine here.
Flat out cannot run the ball..........killed North last time vs. Staley and likely to do so again BUT what an upset! At least goes to show they aren't overmatched physically vs. one of C5's elite.I would not read to much into the result. This was a horrible matchup for Fort O. Yes Liberty North is a solid team but not close to a real contender with an offense that struggles to move the ball. I still see nothing preventing a Staley/Fort O rematch.
Again...you were not at the kearney-LN game apparently. Kearney outgained them 13 first downs to 7. Outgained them by double in total yards. KHS had a 10 point lead with their backup and were well on their way to a turbo clock when 1) They had an interception on the five yard line. 2) They fumbled the ball on their own 20. and 3) had a pick six. All plays involving an obviously nervous backup. They play the game 10 times, Kearney wins by 20 points 5 times, 10 points 4 times, five points once, and loses once...by miracle...which is what it was.Tophat wrote: Flat out cannot run the ball..........killed North last time vs. Staley and likely to do so again BUT what an upset! I'M SEEING only part of YOUR LOGIC HERE.
Liberty North was -2 in turnover margin. Fort had 1 pick, Liberty North 3 interceptions, North missed a short field goal and PAT and still won. Liberty North outgained Fort Osage easily by 100 yards. The team that didn't run the ball well in this game was Fort Osage. Liberty North has beaten Kearney on their home field. A game in which Kearney posters cry that their #1 QB was injured. I am not a fan of power house poster's making this excuse. Evidence has proven, had the #1 played the entire game the LN pass defense would have shut down Kearney's go to air attack. It's not like the backup QB played that poorly either, or #2 was big drop off in talent.
LN shut down the FO air attack and pressured the QB. LN played Staley in tight game in which they had several unforced errors, and played well enough defensively to hold the Staley offense to 14 offensive points. The stinker of games that points to LN's weaknesses, was the close game 1 vs Raytown and the game 2 waxing from BSS. BSS is evidently pretty good ( a game in which LN had multiple turnovers). LN played BSS, SHS and KHS in a 3-game stretch. Neither Fort, Staley, Kearney or PH can boast they've played a tougher 3-game stretch. What would SHS record be if they had played PH, FO BSS or KHS in a 3-game stretch? LN has played Staley, BSS, FO and Kearney defenses, all top notch,a reason to point to a struggle to move the ball.
By comparison to Liberty North, Fort has benefited from a favorable schedule. (except Staley, and I'm not saying that FO is really good and capable of running the table) but quite obviously they were out-played by the Falcons most of the game and the Indians made some heroic pass plays tie and eventually win the game.
In hindsight, and not that it looked easy at all, FO has been beaten at home by a team that lost to Staley. Fort has not lost a regular season game at home, since 2012 at the hands of Staley. FO simply does not lose at home. Fort has an incredible defense, but by comparison OP and WC moved the ball on Fort and neither of those teams moved it on LN (in the first half with the starters in the game). Liberty north stuffed the Kearney run game when they tried to run it. Kearney has nearly turbo-clocked nearly every opponent this season except LN. The Bulldogs should and would turbo any of these teams with their #2 starting at QB.
As proven last Friday, LN can run the ball well enough on elite defenses and pass the ball well enough to have gained respect and is a real contender. Most teams have to convert in the air against elite defenses. LN's achilles heel has been the turnover. Just like the regular season, LN's playoff road will be exceptionally tough. Park Hill, Staley and Fort. I can't think of a tougher class 5 road for any of these teams on this side of the state. Fort found out last year PH is a really good program. Staley found out last year LN is a really good program. I would agree that defeating those three in a row is more of an indication to the eventual FO-SHS rematch then simply writing in the bracket now and that LN flat can't run it or struggles moving the ball offensively. I'm not counting out LN and hardly view the win vs FO as an accident. Fort is good. Really good. It depends on who you're playing.
The one team that survives, and it's arguably a long shot for LN, PH, SH and FO, the winner will surely make it to the dome. Thus, there is plenty of evidence that LN is improved and is a contender, The next four weeks will be very interesting.
"Crying" about the QB going out..............not hardly, dude. I merely pointed out to posters who know basically nothing about this year's Bulldogs that the LN score was very deceptive. Call it pure fortune but K has not, in the modern era, had to deal with a starting QB going out in-game. Regardless I don't think it really matters anymore. Week 3 of the Regular Season is basically meaningless at this point.Tophat wrote: Flat out cannot run the ball..........killed North last time vs. Staley and likely to do so again BUT what an upset!
