#10 Republic 48 Carthage 43 - Final

What happened to Carlton?

I'm not sure. The last game he played was against Nixa and then he did not play in the Chanute (KS) tournament. I don't know if he's quarantined or if he is out for the rest of the season with injury. After losing Frisinger early in the season to injury and having the Wright brothers transfer to Joplin, Carthage did really well to play Republic within 1 possession with 30 seconds to go. I think they only gave up 8 points in about a 12 minute span from 5:00 in the 3rd to 1:00 in the 4th.

Yes the Republic game really surprised me. I knew I hadn’t seen Patrick for awhile and I’m still wondering if he had signed anywhere for football.

Didn't the Wright Brothers transfer to Joplin a few years ago? The older one played at Joplin as a freshman

Alw. Wright played for Carthage his 8th grade year before transferring to Joplin for his freshman season while still living in Carthage. I believe they may have since moved to Joplin though.

I think it was because his mom works for the Joplin school district but I don't know why the kids chose to play at Joplin. Didn't the best player on the CJ girls team grow up in the Carthage school district?

Yes. Desmond played for Carthage, Desiree for Webb City and Destiny for Carl Junction.

The box score posted is wrong. JV and varsity are flipped, and names don’t match points. For Republic—Drew McMillin 19, Ahlante Askew 9, Will Fronabarger 8, Avery Moody 8, Carson Neff 2, Oliver Welch 2

Just going by the names in the program. Lately, a lot of teams seem to be jumbling all their rosters together and will list 2-3 players side-by-side instead of separating out the squads into Varsity/JV/C Team. Never understood why it's so hard to just order 1 set of 36 jerseys and dole out 12 numbers to the varsity squad, 12 to JV and 12 to the C Team yet Colgan is the only school I've ever seen that has figured this out.

Because then you would have to deal with 35 parents crying, complaining and moaning about how Johnny didn’t get “his” number.

About half the parents in any given program would either file six lawsuits or fire the coach if the number went to a senior or if the Kids had to play one on one for it.

Then give the kid jersey #51 and tell him that it's because his parents aren't playing with a full deck.
