Changes in classes because of schools dropping football

it looks like six schools are dropping 11-man football and one coop is adding 11-man football. Lots of talk about new classification system and now they check enrollment every year instead of two-year cycles. But if they keep class 5 as the catch all , the following schools(again based on this years enrollment) would change classes.
Moving from class 5 to class 4 would be FZS, Webster Groves, Liberty Wentzville, Willard and Glendale.
From class 4 to Class 3 - Sullivan, Lincoln Prep, Kirksville, Jennings, st. Joe Lafayette
Class 3 to Class 2 - St. Pius X(kc), Christian, Wright City, Seneca, Kennett
And class 2 to class 1 - South Callaway, Monroe City, Sarcoxie, Lexington, Caruthersville

Of course, most of the districts in each class would also be realigned.

Do Missouri playoff teams, usually travel on gameday?

Especially, if they are traveling more than a 100 miles? I noticed that Trinity traveled on a BUS to play my Packers in SOUTH Georgia! And they stopped in the ATL, the night before our Saturday game! NOW, THIS is where it gets interesting, as to whether it affected their performance against Colquitt! Coach ProPst has ALWAYS said, that if your team has to travel more than a 100 miles on gameday, it WILL affect their performance! And if at all possible, he tries to travel the day prior to the game! CONVERSELY, Trinity traveled FOUR HOURS(220 miles) to Moultrie from the ATL, for our game with them! What say YOU?

DEMAND EXCELLENCE: ON AND OFF THE FIELD

My name is Jonathan Gess and I am a high school football coach in the state of Georgia at Eagle's Landing Christian Academy (ELCA). I have recently written a book about the struggle of pursuing the god of winning verse serving Jesus Christ whole heartedly. I did not write this as one that has it all figured out or am perfect, but one whose deep desire is to create a program that glorifies God but find myself struggling to not bow down this god of winning. As coaches, I think we all battle this god of winning. I wanted to share it in case anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Jonathan Gess. @ELCAFOOTBALL

Private vs Public

I know it is an old discussion but I feel it is time again for Administrators and MSHSAA to look at the Private/Public situation in Mo. HS Athletics. This has been a problem for decades and the multiplier system doesn't seem to level the playing field. The private school: scholarship, all star teams are making the playing field unlevel. It seems like the Privates are getting bolder and bolder in their recruiting and promotion of their Programs. I could go into detail but just look at the bill boards, twitter messages and roster changes recently and you know what I mean. And now we are having Sportsmanship issues. I know it takes two to Tango but if we have separate divisions, we take away the situation at MICDS last week. Why not have a separate District and State Championship Series, a unique thought. If a Public School wants to play a Private School during the season that should be their choice. But come District time, there should be separate championships. Administrators and MSHSAA get off your backsides, remove your blinders and do what is right for the high school athletes in Missouri. This is difficult for me to write for I am a former student athlete, educator and coach from the St. Louis Catholic School system but it is time to get it right.

Fake Recruit

Catfishing apparently doesn’t just exist in the world of online dating. It exists in the world of online college football recruiting, too.

A story is going viral on social media, claiming a fake recruit was able to “catfish” a major college football recruiting site.

The story: Some students created a social media account for a made-up high school football player named Blake Carringer. He was a “6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman from Grace Christian HS in Knoxville, Tennessee.”

The player claimed to have scholarship offers from several major programs, including Alabama, Georgia and Florida, among other schools.

A major recruiting site, Rivals.com, allegedly ranked him in their database as a three-star prospect.

What is Better?

Saw on the news the other night about a few WC players signing for various colleges. Just curious, what (if any) is generally considered a "better" offer - the high level D2s (Pitt State, NW Missouri) or lower level D1 (MO State)? General logic says any D1 takes a better athlete than any D2 but on the other hand - NWMO maybe a more attractive offer with the reasonable chance to play in a national championship vs playing in a struggling program in a subset of D1 football that no one really follows, even though I would argue MSU in general is a superior option college wise - just maybe not in football?

Congratulations to Coach Roderique

Ridethebull named Midwest Coach of the Year for 2018 by NFHS

You’re always flattered when you’re recognized,” Roderique said of the honor. “Anytime those awards come, it’s certainly about more than one person. I’ve been blessed to be in a program where I get to work with great kids and great coaches. In our program, nobody talks about ‘I or me.’ It’s about ‘us and we.’ To me, the award is recognition for our program and our kids and coaches.”

Wow...look at that St. Louis domination in top D1 recruits... bahaha
