Passing of a Coaching Legend

The coaching fraternity lost another legend. Former long time Chillicothe coach Bob Fairchild has died at the age of 87.
I could fill this website with Coach Fairchild stories, but will leave just this one little known fact.
Prior to the start of Fairchild's senior year at Chillicothe high school, the district made a coaching change. Fairchild loved the coach that moved on and stayed in touch with him through the years.
The new coach struggled and Fairchild's senior year was filled with ever changing line ups and struggles. The team finished 0-6-3 in 1949. I always coached to ask Coach if the struggle of not winning a single game his Senior year stayed with him, and helped him become the hall of fame coach. To this day, Chillicothe has won at least one game or more, ever since that 1949 disappointment
Rest in peace, Coach, You built a program and shaped a generation of football players.

Why don't parents go to games?

A trend I have noticed the past several years is declining and sometimes non-existent parent attendance at football games. In the recent CR scandal, Bill Jackson's mom said she wasn't at the game in Chicago where "Marvin Burkes" played. It is pretty common to see visiting teams with more players and staff on the sidelines than fans in the stands, even when most opponents are an hour or less away.

Brandon Gregory quotes

What’s been surprising during this past few days is the justifications ... the excuses... and explanations for Gregory’s actions.

Other teams cheat, too.

The fight was last year, why should it affect this year’s team?

What’s the big deal — Jackson is on the team.

Coaches push the limits — Bill Belichick was fined for illegally videotaping opponents, and he’s considered the greatest coach ever.

“What the coach did was wrong, even if you feel like you can get away with it,” said Vincent Rucker Sr., whose son is a sophomore in the Ritter football program. “But I just want to say, I played in high school, and I played (youth football). Things that he did, I’ve seen. I’m not trying to make an excuse for him, but I’ve seen things like that. I’ve seen a coach actually go to jail and bail a kid out so he could play in a big game. This was in St. Louis.

“This whole situation is just heartbreaking for the kids.”

Question for the Board!

I would like some feedback on what type of suspension is appropriate for an athlete who has an alcohol/drug infraction. I know there are several different policies on this topic. Personally, I think it should be a 365 day suspension from all extra-curricular activities. What do you guys/gals think?

And just like that away goes the regular season and this contest..................Week 9 will consist of TWENTY games with all kicking off Friday (one at 6 PM). This will post tomorrow afternoon with a Friday 6 PM deadline for entries. As a reminder the top THREE plus a weekly randomly drawn winner receive prizes then off to the Playoff Challenge we go...............GOOD LUCK everyone!

Monday morning drivers beware!

Sending an early caution to drivers in the highway 40/44/Forrest park area for Monday am. There may be a traffic jam of epic proportions of private/parochial school coaches trying to get to CR school and offer counseling and services of their school to potential enrollees. Local attorneys websites may face overwhelming traffic as the scrambling to dissect the rule book to get transfer players immediate eligibility begins.

I’ll save you the trouble. This is tongue in cheek humor. I do genuinely feel bad for the kids who had nothing to do with the cheating and lying that cost them their season to be ended. A very tough, and for some, an unfair way for their season to end. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.

Another Bad Game at Adkins Tonight...

Now I'm not calling for the coach to be fired...but the Jeff City D coordinator should have his resume polished and ready... your defense has given up 117 points in the last 2 games, and 324 points thru 8 games. Yes, DeSmet is really good, but Battle and Rock Bridge are not. Yet your guys gave up 54 and 41points to them.
My greatest concern is that this team is regressing as the season goes on. We all know LePage left the program in a mess 2 years ago (3-7 with a lot more talent than they have now), but there has been no improvement last year or this year - statistically speaking, this is the worst its ever been.
