Texas shooter was deported 4 times

The shooter was a Mex National in the US illegally after being previously deported 4 times. This guy had no fear of US laws. Like many others, if they get caught crossing or caught here illegally, they get sent back across the border only to do it again. If they make it here, they can hide in plain sight. Hell, this whole incident started because this guy had the gall to sit on his porch practicing shooting his AR 15. The border is a sieve. Immigrants are lining up at the border for next week's expiration of a law put in place during covid limiting the number of immigrants accepted. Sources estimate 10,000 immigrants per day will legally enter starting May 11. Illegals crossing are lining up as well for the surge.

Instead of sending 1,500 troops in addition to the 2,500 troops on the border, we should be sending 15,000 troops. If we are ever going to get serious about shutting down the illegal border crossings, it is going to take boots on the ground. That has been my solution for many years!! I agreed with Trump in principle on immigration, but I still think the 2,000 mile wall isn't the solution. The Dems are wrong on immigration, thanks to Pelosi's and the NY liberal on immigration crowd.

Remember when immigration was the #1 topic in the 2016 election. Our collective national conscience seems to have put immigration on the back burner. Well, it's about to get bad.

Have the Cards ever been this bad this far into the season in the DeWitt era?

They certainly haven't experience fans turning on them. How long will they wait to make any major changes? Personally I think Marmol is in over his head. He made a decision to show he was boss when he went after TON in the press. That seems to have backfired. It should have been handled in private. Guys don't like getting called out. It was the first time I can remember TON not going all out and he had a decent excuse. I think the team lost some respect for him and it's showing in the performance. Granted they don't have good enough pitching to be serious in October but they shouldn't be KC bad. You can't replace the whole team. You can replace the manager. Will that be the move or will they just continue to ride it out and hope for a hot streak that gets them out of the cellar. If something doesn't change it'll be a long hot summer in StL.

15%

Here’s a scary number for you,” commissioner Rob Manfred told the room in late March. “St. Louis … great baseball market. You know what percentage of homes in St. Louis have access to baseball right now? Anybody want to guess?”

Yeah, 15’s the answer,” Manfred said. “Fifteen. It’s because of cord cutting and the fact that operators like Diamond have not even gotten full distribution within the traditional cable bundle.”

Now, that percentage refers not to the city of St. Louis alone, but to the Cardinals’ overall television territory, which stretches beyond Missouri into Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Tennessee. But it’s still surprisingly low.

Who is the strongest overall in the COC?

This topic came up awhile back so I wasted some time to throw some data into analytics. Results were kind of interesting. The score in the "win total" column is total number of regular season conference wins across 10 sports for which results were easy and readily available where all schools played a full COC schedule. So FB, soccer, base/softball, BB, but not track, xc, swimming, wresting, golf. So it's not a complete picture and this is only ONE school year. A different year could look completely different.

Some things that stood out to me:
  • Enrollment does appear to at least loosely correlate to overall competitiveness more than I expected. Except in Joplin's case. Other than Joplin's much larger enrollment - the top two schools in terms of wins are the LARGEST and have the LEAST amount of poverty.
  • Given the amount of media coverage and co-worker talk about WC winning I expected them to be up near Nixa, not in the bottom half. And definitely not below Carthage. Two of their power sports under-delivered in that regular season so it wasn't necessarily a great sampling for the Cards.
  • Nixa absolutely domiantes the COC. They were first or second in ALMOST EVERY sport. They had ZERO sports below .500. They are literally good at everything.
  • I thought Carthage and CJ would be similar but they aren't really even close.
  • I included a free/reduced lunch factor because I was convinced it was a factor - maybe a little there but not a consistent predictor.
  • Carl Junction struggles more than I thought but when you factor their enrollment they are right in line with everyone else on a per student basis. Neosho is the one that really got my attention. They had numerous sports with 1 or 0 wins.

Bally Sports

Never seen such a disorganized mess. At least as far as in streaming services. They were added to fubo this season to carry both Cardinals and Royals. Cards fans may not have a problem as their pregame, game and post game shows are nearly always shown in full. Live Royals shows seldom are aired in full. This typically gets corrected by game time, but lately that have not even been doing that. Last night they showed the Cardinals game on both channels. No Toyals game at all even though the guide included it. Last year we added Direct TV stream just to be able to watch Royals games, and there were similar problems.

I wish MLB would just take over from Bally’s for lack of performance, and just leave them to deal with their bankruptcy.
